We just had a salmon escargot dinner and the dish was stale and obviously cooked from frozen. My husbands pasta was also not a good dish. The waiter had a stained shirt on, obviously worn from previous day. The dinner was expensive, which would have been ok if the quality matched the price. Very disappointing and we won’t be back.
Mobile Review. La Mandas Restaurant has a colorless dcor that seems it has not change since its original opening date in 1947. A Northern Italian restaurant with great selection of dishes which are all good. I recently ordered the restaurant’s signature dish, chicken scarpariello which was off the bone and all white meat. You can also add sausage to the dish if you like. If you are looking for a restaurant with ambiance, then go elsewhere. But if you want the atmosphere of a neighborhood restaurant with great food, then there is no better place within miles in the area. The restaurant accepts only cash payment.
Good to OK. This is a really nice restaurant, and you couldn’t get more Italian. The house speciality is the chicken Scaparo (sp?), and it is excellent, with a white wine vinegar sauce that s compelling. I had, my weakness, veal parmigiana, and while the sauce was excellent, thick rich and spicy, the veal was over done and dry. I recommend the place, and do try the specialty.
Good & Basic. La Manda’sLa Manda’s is a White Plains institution that has been around forever. It’s basic, don’t expect tablecloths or anything fancy, you won’t get it, but if you want really good thin crust pizza, salad and pork chops & vinegar peppers this is the place. Those are our favorite items on the menu. We also enjoy the escarole soup and some of the chicken dishes. We’ve been coming here for years and the place has had it’s ups and downs but it’s a nice family run business. Remember CASH ONLY (ATM on site)
My favorite.
Pizza. We are a family of 4 generations that have had.a bridle rehersal dinner there. I have a grandson that lives in Arizona&brings friends to eat in that restaurant.. The service is great&. the food is terrific.
FANTASTIC. The bad reviewer must have been at another restaurant.Mothers day was packed and they NEVER take reservations. 1st come and all that. The owners here bend over backwards for their customers. the food here is EXCELLENT and I skip NYC, and Scarsdale each time I’m in town and drive here to eat. WHY because it is the only place in the entire USA that makes such delicious Chicken Franchese. As far as noisy, ill behaved, bread tossing kids? I don’t want them where I’m eating so I am HAPPY to hear a waiter say, take them outside.DotTEXAS
