Downtown Troy has become a real hotspot in the area and Brown’s is a mainstay. The beer and food are well above average – the chicken wings perhaps the best in the area. My real concerns are mostly based on the environment. Although a busy kitchen is a good thing (high food turnover ensures freshness) the waits for a table can be long. Service can also get a bit spotty if the staff gets in the weeds (which is just about every weekend evening.) I tend to like going on off nights and for lunches /early seatings. The restaurant is much more pleasant, the service is smoother, and the live music hasn’t started up yet. When we go this way the experience is top notch.
There really isn’t too much to say about this place. Apparently it’s great if you’re a gigantic group. If you’re by yourself, expect to wait….and wait……and wait….for everything. I ordered some chicken tenders, a beer, and a water. 15-20 minutes easy between getting a water….then my beer, then my food. Longer for the bill. Waiter too busy yakking with what I can only assume were his frat dudebros. I’ll take a pass next time.
