Passable q – I’d call it about average. Price per portion size varies quite a bit. Also waaay loud – hard to maintain conversation, and if a band plays forget it! If you really need a fix go for it, but if you’re strictly looking for carnivore options there are other places nearby to get beef or chicken.
This had live music, not really my fav, I prefer to have a quite meal, but having said this, food was quite good, helped by the stewardess about her fav and the restaurant favs.Two of us had ordered Fried Green tomatoes (just too good), drunken spicy shrimp boil-would have loved this warm than being a cold snack, and for the main entree, it was my all time like-buffalo wings with devil sauce. This was a disappointment on the sauce, wasnt so spicy.But overall a good meal with a pub like feeling, on the banks of the river, and with a chill January evening outside.
For meat eaters and none other.. I am sitting on the fence with this restaurant. I found it slightly average, but I can see that its main attraction is towards meat eaters, heavy meat eaters. It’s a meat house, and nothing less. I found the smoked pork very tender and flavoursome, but I reckon the ribs could use marinading for much longer. I miss the original creole spiced devilled eggs that they used to offer, as opposed to the new creole spicing they are using, but despite my personal preference, they were still fairly good. I am never sure when we dine down there who is or is not a waitress, as they all seem to dress casual. Uniforms would be great, as well as a slightly more welcoming service. I am sat on the fence with this restaurant.
So close but not quite there, I’ve eaten at the locations in Syracuse and Rochester and by far those are the best ones. Troy just needs to try a little harder to be as good as they’re other spots.
Great family outing. Bbq for everyone – smiles on all faces. That’s all we ask for, that’s what we got. Great food, plenty of it, and reasonable prices. Service was prompt and friendly, too. Great experience. We will be back!
Troy location has more chain restaurant atmosphere than Syracuse or Rochester. Food is absolutely Dinosaur, as good as any other Dinosaur Barbeque. Unique flavors should please any Q lover.
Not everything hear is something to take note of, but the BBQ chicken is fantastic… Order dark meat. Ribs and pulled pork also very decent.
