Gunk Haus was quite impressive. The decor was nice. From the bakery display at the entrance to their outdoor dining area. The view is wonderful regardless of where you sit. This last time I was able to catch the sunset while dining outside. This place serves the best burger I’ve ever had. Drinks and food are slightly overpriced but enjoyable. The coconut macaroons(see picture) were also very good. Would definitely dine here again.

My first taste of German food and I was very pleased. I have now gone three times and enjoy the Haus burger (I ordered it with gouda and garlic spread). The desserts were solid along with the Monkey Joe coffee beans they have. It had a wonderful view. Usually has a wait but is well worth it.

Go for the view, BUT. Ok, food at best. What really stands out is being overcharged for our meal. Had to go back and ask for our check to be explained. The waitress over billed us by 14.00 dollars. I would say we almost were robbed . She was very rude to boot. Be careful with your check make sure you are not over charged. Jason Repolle

Dissapointing. Loud crowded atmosphere, served warm martini, cold coffee, food was very greasy, to the point you couldn’t eat it.

Unfortunately the spaezle wasn’t on the menu. Pannakuchen was little overdone but the location was beautiful !

A friend and myself ate here in the summer. The portobello paprikash fell very short unfortunately, but the sweet potato streudel was not only HUGE it was absolutely delicious! The valley table claimed the gunk haus now has one of the best burgers in the Hudson valley, so I can’t wait to try one and enjoy the deck seating when the weather gets warm.

New Destination Restaurant. First to post! I had a great meal here! It’s a newly opened restaurant (9-10 mo.) converted from an old hotel so it’s very spacious and somewhat secluded. The couple who run it source the finest local ingredients to create excellent German food. Start with the Pretzel and Obatzda- a spread with camembert, gorgonzola, and beer served with house-made pretzel bread. I split the currywurst on pretzel bread and sauerbraten entrees. The food brought me to Germany and the service was charming. I loved the rustic and intimate yet spacious atmosphere. It’s perfect for a date and reasonably priced. The owner played a convivial host. The location makes it feel like a true getaway. It has a Napa Valley with the orchards surrounding it. I imagine the view would be stunning during the day. This is a new favorite for me.
