Great pizzeria with a lot of history. Fresh ingredientsput together to maketasty pies. Not a fan of the crazy way they cut their pies, makes it a bit difficult to eat if you have a lot of toppings. But I guess that’s their signature. Love their pizza, I do ask them to cut it traditionally though!
Great atmosphere, these place is bigger than the original in New Haven, but the pizza taste the same to me, no long lines, the classic pizza, the margherita, and the bacon with clams, they are all delicuous, well toasted.
At least in a hospital you get gello with your salad.. If you want hospital style salad Pepe eatery is for you. Two leaves, one tomato no cucumbers, onion or peppers and all for $3.99! And nothing special about the pizza. Its just OK.
Some of the best pizza in the northeast. Period. Actually, it has been voted no. 1 in the entire USA by several reputable reviewers. Someone has to be no. 1. Other pizza may be as good, but none better. For those that don’t know, Pepe’s has been in New Haven forever and is king in Connecticut, with Sally’s Pizza in New Haven a close second, or just as good, depending on who you talk to. This is as original as it gets. My family loves Pepes. Not much for ambiance, but its the pizza, stupid.
Mediocre pizza. I went to Pepes thinking it was great brick oven pizza.First the service was ok, the pizza just like any other pizza place. Then for sharing a salad they want to charge $2.00 not for the plate but the usage of a second fork! Truthfully, I have had much better pizza pies in Mt. Vernon and Connecticut!. Go for a ride to Bertucci’s in Westport and if you go for lunch they will throw a salad for FREE! and much better service.
Pizza In Yonkers. Thursday night was busy, but line moved pretty quickly. We ordered the tossed salad which was good, two large pies on with fresh garlic and another with sausage. Fresh garlic was great order on all pizza, the sausage had really good flavor, but very salty. Both pizzas’ were cooked well, but service was slow. Our waitress was not attentive and even forgot out second pie which another waitress brought over!! I would still go back for the food!! PS They were out of clams!
Frank Pepe’s is not #1?. How in the heck is Sal’s #1? Give me a break.Pepe’s was worth the schlep from New Rochelle to New Haven years and years ago, and then to Fairfield, it’s a dream come true that it’s now in Yonkers. The ‘ambiance’, such as it is, is the same, the wait wasn’t, thank heavens, and the pizzas. Ah, the pizzas. Some quibble, but our white clam and sausage/mushroom pies were as good as Dad (or whomever is running New Haven) make.Okay, so the wine is in a plastic cup, but hey, we went for the pizza. So hurry up and go and get a white clam pie. You won’t be sorry.
