  I was really hoping to love Cloud 9 because I haven’t found a dessert place in Charlotte that just has killer desserts yet, but the cupcake I got was just average. I got the sea salt caramel filled cupcake, and as a whole it was decent but nothing special. The cake itself was plain white/vanilla cake and was a little dry. It was filled with caramel, but the filling was only in the center and essentially just formed a block that didn’t really add any flavor to the cupcake overall except by being overwhelming for 1-2 bites of the middle. The frosting was whipped, and it was way too light and fluffy for my girlfriend or I to enjoy. Normally I like whipped frosting, but this was so light that it was almost airy and more similar to a mousse and ultimately lacked sweetness or any flavor.   Disappointment. My husband and I visited Cloud 9 bakery this weekend. Initially we went in to the market to grab some lunch and while waiting for our food decided to purchase cupcakes as a treat. Instead of waiting until we got home we decided to eat one of the cupcakes before we left. What we quickly discovered is that the cupcake (vanilla) tasted as if it were days old! The cake’s texture was DRY and so dense that it crumbled apart. The actual taste of the cupcake was a big let down as well because it tasted like cornbread! There wasn’t even the slightest hint of vanilla flavor at all. A big LET DOWN! I will say one positive thing about Cloud 9 was the customer service-though you are greeted with smiles and someone ready to serve you, not all staff was knowledgeable about their desserts! The young man that assisted us literally kept asking others information about their items!! I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone to buy a cupcake from them. Until Cloud 9, starts to put out FRESH cupcakes (or better freezing options with SHORTER storage time) I will NEVER purchase another item again. A Charlotte food critic should ‘POP UP’ one day soon to see EXACTLY what is going on at this bakery!

  We purchased two cupcakes for the kids. My daughter got a chocolate with vanilla frosting and she didn’t want to eat it. Said it was dry and hard. I tried my sons and carrot cake and the frosting tasted nasty like it was stale. I won’t be returning.

  We got the Oreo cheesecake bar and the lemon bar. The cheesecake tasted like it had absolutely no cream cheese. It was extremely dry and dense and tasted like no other cheesecake I’ve ever had. The lemon bar tasted artificial. We will never go back.

  For Valentines, I had custom made cupcake for my sweetie. The bakery said they would be ready on Sunday on 3 pm. Well needless to say my cupcake were not ready and the baker immediately turned around and started working my cucpakes. The cupcakes were sloppy and rushed. I could have been a better job. That night I read the business reviews for cloud 9 on yahoo. I saw three complaints for customers who said the same thing about their orders. Also the owner of the company commented on the complaints and blaming customers for their experience. I would not reccomend this bakery to anyone.

  Cloud 9’s cake put me on cloud 9!. I LOVE Cloud 9 Confections! I cannot sum up in words how wonderful my experience with them has been! Erica and her husband did a wonderful job on my friend’s baby shower cake. After reading the reviews on Yahoo, I called Cloud 9 to see if they could make an amazing cake for a shower 5 days away. One of the owners, Erica, answered the phone and told me that it was no problem. I sent her some pictures of cakes I found online, told her what elements I liked from each, and she combined them all into one fabulous cake! I cried when I received the sketch! The icing on the figurative cake was that the price was so reasonable and much less than I expected. Erica called when the cake was ready, and I used curbside service to pick it up (Bonus!). Her husband gave me some advice on driving with the cake and showed me a picture of it on his phone to make sure I liked it. When I opened the box at the event, it was even more beautiful than the sketch and picture!!! Not only was it beautiful, it was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted! My heart melted; it was perfect! Everyone loved the cake, especially the new mommy!!! All of the ladies at the event said they will use Cloud 9 Confections and Bakery for their future events. We even talked about creating an event in the next few weeks, so that we could get another cake! I can’t thank you enough, Erica, for making this event even more special! Your cake definitely took the cake!! I’m officially a devoted Cloud 9 customer!
