On a recent business trip to Charlotte I dined with a large group at Morton’s. Having been to a couple of other Morton’s locations my expectations were pretty high. I am happy to report that they met those high expectations. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was outstanding and dishes were executed with a high level of skill and attention; For my appetizer I ordered the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, which was unique and very flavorful. Perfect pairing that worked very well together. For the salad course I opted for the sliced beefsteak tomatos, an excellent choice as well. I am a fan of the NY Strip and that is what I ordered medium rare + (which is a little past medium rare and not quite medium) and it was seared to near perfection! It’s hard to get a steak just exactly like I like it but they did and should be commended. I enjoyed sauteed mushrooms and spinach for my side. We had a very nice red with the dinner, but the host made the selection and I do not know the label. In all a very nice dinner.

Overpriced and Underwhelming. Most of my visits have been to the bar area for private parties and each time the drinks were wayyyy overpriced, nothing special and service was ordinary. This should be a dining experience you never forget and then again maybe I won’t but not in a good way. Your dollars are much better spent and ANY other uptown restaurant.

Quality food, extra high prices and an inept Manager!. Went here for a large business client dinner…considering the potential size of the bill and that you could almost shoot a cannon through the place on a Thursday Night and not hit anyone, we thought the service would be impeccable. The main waitress was lovely but the Manager was pushy and provided marginal/poor service. Overall, the filets were excellent quality and perfectly done. The salads, particularly the chopped spinach salads were great. The sides were just average and the asparagus was actually terrible as it was way overgrown with a one to two inch diameter. It was like asparagus on steroids and should have even been offered. The big problem was with the wine, which can really make or break a meal. We ordered a wine due to it’s particular vintage – 2006. With 12 people, we ordered a magnum and it was pricey at about $275 a bottle. Upon bringing it to the table, I noticed that the vintage was off a year, 2007, and pointed it out to the Manager. After some hesitation, he claimed that the wine list had a typo and it should have read 2007. I asked if the price also contained a typo since there are clear pricing differences between vintage years. Again, after some hesitation, his response was no. Not wanting to make a larger scene in front of the clients, I accepted the bottle. Upon opening it, the Manager fragmented the cork into pieces but still proceeded to put it on the table. We ended up liking the wine very much and were considering another but the Manager then informed us that we would have to switch to the 2008 vintage and low and behold, the price was the same. Several of us voiced our objections and passed on the additional bottle of that wine. We then were sure to confirm the vintage/pricing on the next bottle. To our dismay, the Manager seemed dumbfounded by the whole experience. Again, this was shocking (or maybe it should not have been) considering the emptiness of the restaurant. For sure, despite the good food, we will not be back considering the poor wine experience, the very high prices and the inept Manager!

We sat at a table in the bar to take advantage of their specials on bar bites. The table was perfect because it was set back in the corner away from the main bar, with plenty of room and ambiance. The service from the bartenders was outstanding and they had a full bar of guests to attend to.I ate oysters on the half shell, colossal sized shrimp, wedge salad bites and then decided I wanted more oysters! My martinis were ice cold, just the way I like them. I will definitely be going back.

Very Good. Yes, pricey but you pay for service and atmosphere. Same consistent quality is also a premium. People who bitch about the prices have the option to look at the menu while waiting or online before dining and then can leave if needed as with any eatery. So stop whining.

Pricey, but worth it!. We went here on Valentine’s day this year. We got the special which was a three-course meal and a bottle of wine. The service was outstanding! The filet was cooked to perfection. The best filet I’ve had outside of my house in a long time. We paid a little over $250 for the two of us. I recommend this place for it’s subtle atmosphere and great food and service.
