Long-time customers, but disappointed today. We’ve been going to Acropolis for decades, both at their former location and this one. We usually get the lamb gyro and have never been disappointed … until today. We ordered two lamb gyro platters, which come with lots of rotisserie grilled lamb, yoghurt sauce, a piece of pita bread and a small Greek salad. Today we ordered for takeout. With two extra pieces of pita bread, and nothing to drink, the meal came to about $21.50 before tip. Prices have crept up over the years, but we can live with that.There were two problems with the meal today. One, the pita bread was so old and stale it was almost hard. Second, the salad dressing has changed — it’s a milky white now, instead of clear as in the past. The lamb was pretty good, and the salad was okay, but you can’t eat a lamb gyro without good bread.Why would Acropolis give customers stale pita bread? Was the kitchen just having a bad day? Or is the restaurant under new management that is trying to save a buck?We won’t give up on an old favorite, but if this happens again we won’t go back. Let’s hope Acropolis was just having a bad day.
My family have been loyal customers of Acropolis for years. We went there last night and were rudely snapped at by a snarky hostess who we had never seen before. We complained to the manager who shrugged his shoulders about it and made it clear he couldn’t care less. We WON’T be returning to Acropolis, and we will tell all of our friends, family, and neighbors about our experience.

Excellent Food but…. I never gotten something that I absolutely hate, and every time I order in the restaurant I get exactly what I order. But the past 2 times I have ordered online (through valet gourmet) I have gotten a pizza (with red sauce) when I have ordered a calzone. As I mentioned I have never gotten anything that I have hated but I could happily never eat red sauce.
Best Pizza in the Area. The staff is professional, the pizza (no, the food in general) is incredible. There are so many options and the prices are surprisingly decent. The last time I went I waited quite a while because they were very short staffed. However, the woman taking to-go orders and ringing up eat-ins was kind and apologetic. Not sure why other reviewers expect so much from a local pizza place regarding ambience… I personally love the decor and how the restaurant is set up. Also, regarding the restaurant not taking credit/debit, local eateries simply can’t afford the fees credit card companies place on each transaction. This is a definite spot to stop at when visiting Asheville/Arden/Hendersonville.
Dont like it. Eeeeccck tried this place 2 times!! the cheese is so rubbery and thick. on calzone and pizza. made the pizza actually soggy. the gelato inside looked watery actually. but they only take cash or check. but just overall not impressed
Best pizza around and the sandwiches are good also. The only bad thing I have ever gotten from there is the Lobster raviole.
