What happened?. I recently visited Asheville Sandwich Company in its new location on Haywood Rd. Over the past couple of years, I had become fond of lunching on their amply portioned sandwiches and tasty sides like fried brussel sprouts. Stepping into the new space, my expectations were high, but it didn’t take very long to become disappointed. Firstly, the person who greeted me from behind the counter behaved indifferently — this was far from what I had experienced at the previous location. Scanning the menu, I asked her where the shrimp in the Shrimp Po Boy were sourced (I would order something else if they were from China). She didn’t know the answer, so she asked one of the two kitchen staff. He reluctantly walked into the back to check and came back saying that he didn’t know because he couldn’t find that information on the box. Enough said there. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich and settled into one of the open tables. Surprisingly, the size of the dining room at the new location is about as small as the previous location, so this was a little cramped. About 10 minutes later, the sandwich arrived. The bread was good, but the filling was not tasty enough nor sizable enough to justify the nearly $8 price point. Further, I found gristle in the chicken in the sandwich. Probably won’t return.

Outstanding Food. WOW. Really good. My lunch was so tasty, I thanked the staff behind the counter. Well executed and inexpensive.
Lunch here this week. Truly one great sandwich. Prime rib sandwich with onions and cheddar cheese. Place is very clean and staff was great. I would go back just for those little fries. Those rock! Will def go back. Menu has a pork belly sandwich that I gotta try sometime.
Mmm YUM! YES!. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. the location is a pity because this sandwich shop should be the epicenter of asheville, north carolina. I devoured the prime rib which was smothered in cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and shoe string cut french fries. Don’t be scared of the fries, they are so thin and delicate that they add just the perfect saltiness and substance to the sandwich. And it wasn’t too heavy. Just the perfect amount to be satisfied! It was so delicious I went back the very next day and did it all over again. Needless to say, this $7.75 sandwich is worth that and SO much more. To top it all off they have lovely outside picnic tables. The service is quick, so friendly and warm! Don’t wait, go support these great guys and make your stomach happy!
This place is Awesome!!!. This place is my new favorite spot in town. Everything I have been trying is amazing. I am working my way down the menu sandwich by sandwich until I try them all. My favorite is the hot sauce chicken and shrimp po boy! Best Shrimp Po Boy I have ever had. I can’t believe they cut those amazing shoestring fries by hand every day. You have to check this place out!!!!
Funky fun sandwiches. This place is a riot In the right way, there is NO atmosphere but damn the sandwiches make up for it. I’ve been in three times and each one was just…right! Hot sauce chicken…uhm slaw, hot sauce and fries..yes, the prime rib, cheese and carmalized onion with fries…get it….the last sandwich I had, pork belly bohn mi…holy crap, if you go for nothing but that, get it.. Its THE best sandwich I’ve ever had! I don’t know what the pickled veg are but they should packaged and sold …if you haven’t been…. GO
