TWO THUMBS DOWN!. WORST PLACE IN DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE! This place screams Identity crisis. So, your a German restaurant…that has no German food…that’s a sports bar/arcade and you have an Irish night??? I’ve given this place several tries. Unless youre looking for the average fries and wings dont bother. Having good resources I can say a majority of the food is canned, frozen and processed garbage. Regardless of the volume of the restaurant dont expect fast service. Despite the impressive selection in beer and the 50/50 good service, I wouldnt recommend this place to any visitor! ASHEVILLE IS A GORGEOUS CITY WITH AMAZING FOOD, THIS PLACE JUST ISNT ONE OF THEM!
Good place to drink, but eat first. Incredible beer menu, but food was subpar. I had the special, a sesame crusted tuna sandwich. The sesame topping was crazy overpowering. After scrapping most of it off and diving into the sandwich I found a very tough piece of tuna that was cold and a way undercooked for my preference (not even quite seared). Sweet potato fries were good, but the brown sugar they used in them/on them made it more a dessert than a sandwich side.
Came with friends because our top two choices had a two hour wait. There was not a wait and that should have been our first clue. Great beer selection, even though my first choice they were out of. Mediocre bar food. Waitress must have been new. Our order came out wrong and we had slow service even though they were not busy. I could see coming to grab a beer before heading out to dinner.
Beer only. I’ve been going to the Bier Garden regularly for a while. It’s a great place to catch a game or meet up with a friends and try different beers (for bigger groups especially). If you’re looking for a place to eat, however, I’d definitely go somewhere else. The food is priced much higher than it’s quality.
Good beer selection, comfortable atmosphere. Only had the vegetarian chili but it was delicious and well plated.
Lunch. Stopped by last week for a late lunch (3-ish). I ordered the chick pea sliders, the wife had the smoked duck quesadilla. Both items were excellent. The sweet potato fries were seasoned with a sugary pumpkin pie spice, which was unusual and very good. Wait staff was moderately attentive (they appear to really love soccer in Asheville), and our food was delivered hot.
