If you want a special night out in a lovely atmosphere with the sweetest people waiting on you and delicious food this is the place. I have lived in Asheville for 17 years and in 2016 this has become one of my favorite restaurants. Maybe back in 2014 and 2015 there were some issues based on previous reviews but in 2016 the menu has been delightful, the wine choice fantastic, and the service impeccable. This is not the cheapest place to at in town but this business gives back to the community with non profit donations every month. The owners are two of the kindest people I have ever met and I will not hesitate to go back to Chiesa when I want to have a night out on the town. The limoncello dessert is one of the best desserts I have ever had. The pasta is hand made in house and the sauces are light and flavorful, not too heavy or cheesy. Thanks so much to everyone at Chiesa for making so many of my evenings there so awesome. I really appreciate all of you.
A cool location and remodeled historic building, in a historic neighborhood on the edge of downtown. Has a neighborhood feel, not extensive waiting, take reservations. The owner and staff were amazing and welcoming. The food was excellent especially for the price. Not crazy expensive, most dishes under $20. Just a very fun, casual, outstanding experience!
Beautiful Space, Underwhelming Food. This is a beautiful space, and the renovations look great, but unfortunately, the food does not live up to expectations. The ingredients in the house salad dont make sense, and there is no seasoning. All the vegetables are bland. Why not take the pear and pancetta appetizerwhich is a strange-looking awkward biteand turn it into a salad? As for the pasta, the ravioli was filling and the best thing we had. The red tomato gravy was pretty good. Nothing special. It was a little too sweet (too many carrots?) and one-dimensional (only ground beef, no pork) for my taste. Our server was very nice, but the food seemed amateurish. Its almost unfair to put them up against each other, but I recommend going instead to Cucina 24. Its more varied, well-executed, and flavorful.
I really enjoyed the food.. I have eaten here twice and I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The appetizers are good and at a reasonable price, we had the spinach dip and it is some of the best I have had in Asheville. I had the fettuccine with meat sauce and I thought that the noodles where prepared well and the sauce was rich and delicious. I also had a special shrimp ravioli that was some of the best I have had in Asheville. Very friendly staff and a great wine and beer selection.
We loved it. I read the reviews, and I have to say that it seems like the issues mentioned by others have been fixed. A party of three of us dined tonight, and all of us had been before. All three of us were very happy with our app, dinner and dessert. We had the fettuccini with meat sauce, (2), shrimp pot pie, prosciutto and fig appetizer, and three different desserts. The desserts were pear bread pudding, chocolate gelato and an apple crisp with ice cream. Everyone left full and happy and carting home leftovers. All restaurants have an off night, and new places take a minute or two to find their groove. If you’ve hesitated trying a Chiesa, I highly recommend you go.
Nothing special for the price. Noisy, small room….food was overpriced and lacking in seasoning…pathetic Italian meat spaghetti…adequate wait staff much better restuarants in Asheville…..do not recommend.
Not good. Potato & leek soup was nothing better than you could get from a can. Marsala wine & mushroom gravy fettuccine was mushy, overly salty, and lacking flavor. The vegetable ribbons were oily and unimpressive. Do not recommend.
