Fabulous addition to East Asheville!. Enjoyed our second meal at The Gondolier every bit as much as the first. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us often. As before, the food was excellent, and each of us took part of our meal home. AND THE DESSERTS – absolutely fabulous cakes. We shared two pieces, the Seven Sins cake and carrot cake. One piece would have been enough for the four of us – but enjoying the last little bit of the carrot cake with my coffee this morning. We’ll be back often!
Love the food! Beautiful atmosphere with inexpensive menu. There have been several restaurants in this location, but no doubt this one will make it! Amazing homemade soups, bread, and pizza! We sat on the patio and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The staff was incredibly nice. We will definitely be back!!
Mediocre at Best. I was hoping to join a pleasant meal at the newly opened Gondolier in East Asheville. The location has been many things over the years, so checking out each new eatery is always interesting. The interior has been completely upgraded, the stage set for a romantic Italian evening. There also seems to be room for private parties in the back. However, the food was poor. The red sauce tasted straight from the can, lacking in seasoning, and too sweet. We ordered stuffed shells and stromboli. They were similarly priced; however, there were only three stuffed shells (think child size) compared to the large stromboli. The chicken spinach stromboli had sauteed peppers that were oddly tough and chewy. The chicken appeared to be canned. Top that off with a slow waitress that could not remember which drink belonged to either one of us, despite being her only table and we will not be back. There are better Italian eateries just up the road on 70 in either direction. Keep driving.
