Great Place to Relax, Telecommute or Study. 2 garage doors – one placed at the front of the cafe and the other placed at the back- are open all the time when the weather is nice. The placement of the open doors allows for a fresh breeze throughout the day so you get the benefit of sitting outdoors and indoors. The decor uses a lot of dark hardwoods and the walls seem to have a rotating display of different artists. They use a local coffee roaster (Counter-Culture from Raleigh) known for their sustainable and organic focus. You can get any variety of espresso related drink with organic milk, sugar and cream as a standard. They make their own chai in-house and get fresh baked goods from several different local bakers. They also offer genuine New York bagels (from New York) that are baked off every morning – they also make some of their own cream cheeses. They have free, unlimited wi-fi and good music – sometimes live music in the evenings. Any morning, you can see the place filled with people chatting with friends or working on their computers.
Nothing Special. The atmosphere is nice, but the coffee is just okay. I wish they would use a local roaster, like Dynamite or Mountain Air. Waking Life is still hands down the best coffee in town!
