Located in heart of downtown Asheville, Pack’s is a place to find local beers on tap and good food. It is nothing phenominal but a good choice if you want to sample local beer with dinner (like we did). Our server was phenominal and wrote down many great places to see in the greater Asheville area. I ordered the bison meatloaf which is sourced from local farms. It was good but couldn’t tell it wasn’t beef. It came with pan seared Brussel sprouts which were good plus some mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the mushroom pizza that was a standout dish! Wood fired pizza with olive oil instead of tomatoe sauce. My 6 yr old loves shrimp and grits but not the spice. The chef made a special version without the spicy sauce. The grits were very creamy. We enjoyed dinner.

No Title. Everything was good. Average I guess. About like Appleby’s. Nothing above and beyond. Just my one time experience.

Chambers. We have enjoyed 2 years of great buffet food and entertainment on New Years Eve at Pack,s Tavern, but this year, going into 2014, we were very disappointed. First the buffet was supposed to be seafood, there was only one dish containing seafood and really the food assortment and quality was below expectations from the past. Next, the tables were all large and you had to share tables even if you wanted an intimate experience. The service at the bar was aweful upstairs, 3 workers behind the bar!!! It took almost an hour to get a drink and when you tried to get a couple to avoid the wait, you were told you had to have another person to get it. When New Year arrived, no champaigne toast unless you bought your own. The total experience was a let down from the past couple of years. It left us thinking of planning to go somewhere different this year.
Thanksgiving day buffet was excellent. I normally don’t go for buffets, but the quality was like home cooked.
Had a great time with the family at Packs tonight, our food was very good and service was both prompt and polite! Hands down that was the best burger in Asheville :~)
