Went to Asheville for a day trip with intentions of drinking good beer and eating good food. The beer part of the day was perfect but the food at Posana was terrible. I wish I could convince myself it was better than it was based on the ticket price but I simply cannot. We stumbled upon this place with outdoor seating and a table was available. After a quick glance at the menu we decided to give it a shot as it was in a popular area of Asheville with plenty of street performers for entertainment. We started with the Maitake mushroom tempura. This was served with radishes, house pickled jalapeo, and a chimichurri sauce. Not impressed. For entrees my wife ordered the stuffed heirloom tomatoes. These were stuffed with quinoa and basically tasted like a hot, steamy, mushy mess. Absolutely no variance in texture or flavor. I ordered the bone in porkchop with buttered potato pure. The porkchop was super dry and over cooked with very little seasoning. The potatoes tasted like instant potatoes with absolutely no salt or pepper. The entire meal lacked any salt to speak of. Service was fine but with food so flavorless it didn’t help at all. We later discovered that this an all gluten free restaurant. This is not advertised at all on the menu or by the wait staff. Even still, gluten free doesn’t automatically mean flavorless food. Will not be back.
Disappointing. The dinner was overpriced for the minuscule portion served. While the food was good, it wasn’t spectacular. The place suffers from fine dining pretention.
My husband and I found this jewel while on our honeymoon! It was absolutely delicious. The service was great as well. I tried the Brioche French Toast. It was good, and I am glad I ordered a side of bacon because it needed a little salty and crunchy contrast. My husband had the Southern fried chicken with grits and added a waffle this was cooked to perfection.
A very positive experience!. While the decor, wait staff, and presentation overshadow the food, there is only one complaint: the portions were quite small for the prices of the dishes…leading one to be pretty certain that a lot of the prices reflected the very original, artistic presentation of the food, rather than the food itself.
My husband and I have been coming to Posana for years and have never been disappointed! The menu is always updated with fresh new ideas, and the staff gives excellent service! We question the ratings of some Asheville restaurants and chalk some up to lack of knowledge regarding great food – Posana is one of Asheville’s best and finest restaurants while maintaining a warm atmosphere. A must visit for us on every trip!!
Delightful, Small, High-End. We came here on our 1st anniversary weekend and found this to be a delightful experience. Be willing to spend some money and you’ll get some amazing food options. The game plan here is to purchase 4-5 small plates and share it between 2 in order to get the full-experience. Chorizo wrapped in Chips is amazing! And worth ordering twice.
The food really tastes Gluten free!. I was so excited to try Posana because I had heard amazing things about it with the whole menu being gluten free, but my issue with the restaurant is that the food really tasted gluten free. The breadsticks & lobster gnocchi were just OK. The chicken lettuce wraps were my favorite appetizer dish. The salmon entre & scallop entrees were both pretty good, but you could find those to be gluten free at any restaurant. The potatoes au gratin were good, but you have to order their steak entre in order to get that side unless they have any extras for the night (that side is pre-allocated to their steak dishes for the night. Thankfully for me, someone that ordered the steak wanted fries instead). Although we didnt try them, the fries did look really good. They looked thin & crispy like McDonalds fries. The cocktail menu didnt do anything for me, so I didnt order a drink. They need more girly drinks. The bread pudding dessert was amazing though. I would go back just for that. I wish that the service & atmosphere hadnt been so pretentious. I think that I would have enjoyed my experience there more if everyone had been friendlier & less worried about up-selling.
