Overrated. Even once you dismiss the owner/employee written love letters (reviews) there is still an amount of affection for this place that I just dont get. I mean, first off; the prices are high. Especially when you consider the ambiance, which reminded me of a break room at a department store. The wife ordered a chicken salad panini ($9), comes with a bag of chips and a pickle. It was barely toasted, the cheese wasnt melted and it was on the smallish side. She enjoyed it for what it was but agreed that at that price it should come with a real side. As for my burger; the burger that people rave about, its your typical pre-formed patty from Hickory Nut Gap. I can think of 20 other places in AVL that use the same thing. The guy didnt ask how I wanted it cooked, so I requested it medium rare, he said OK. But, when I looked at my ticket, (the same ticket that the cook sees) it said nothing about that. Once I got it (after like 5 minutes, which I thought odd) and took a bite I found it to be cooked to well. If Im paying $10 for a burger I want it cooked the way I asked for it. Im guessing that they either cook all their burgers to well, or, par-cook them in the A.M., and then finish them when ordered, because that saves time. The ranch was sweet and sour, and gross. The wheat bun was fine, as was the lettuce, but lets face it, the star of the show is the meat, and it was nothing special. Give me a hand pressed, made to order burger from U-Joint or Farm Burger any day of the week. Again, at $10, give me a real side. A bag of chips?! Really? Whatever it is people see in this place, I just aint seein it. The good news is that there are plenty of other places downtown where you can get a decent sandwich or burger with the same quality ingredients, and for less money. Or at least, get your moneys worth.Grade: C (the christian propaganda in the bathroom is bad business acumen.) drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
No comparison… So when in Asheville and looking for a great burger we always go to Roman’s. This time we thought we would try Farm Burger which our friends in Atlanta said was just another burger joint. They were right. The burgers at Roman’s are the best I have ever had. Roman’s is nice and clean without loud music blaring. Food is fast and you will never forget how good the burgers are. Note: Both are grass fed natural beef from local farms.
To die for!. Ok,anybody that knows me, knows that I am a food SNOB! Proudly so! From the time I get in to work, I am already thinking oooohhhh, Romans! I wait until 10 a.m. To place my order, per usual,Joy will answer the phone, the conversation is the same, I fane interest in something new this time, but as Joy is telling me about the specials, I sigh and order the Italian almost every time! This magnificent sandwich can get me through a 10 hour day, and I am a big eater! The portions are beyond generous, the ingredients are pure quality, and the service whether in or out are is perfect. They are amazing in everyway. Cost? Reasonable ! Quality, quality, quality! Thanks so much Romans! We appreciate you beyond words! Maggie and the gang at Aubergine’s
Scrump-deli-icious. Roman’s has a very friendly and courteous staff and the best veggie burger that I have ever tasted in my life! The food is always delicious and you can tell that they use fresh ingredients. The chips and cole slaw are also very tasty! This place is the best! Writing this review is actually making me crave their food.
BEST Sandwich Shop, BUT 2 negatives.. These guys are the absolute best sandwich shop in Asheville. HOWEVER, there is a catch: 1. They are the slowest sandwich makers in town.2. They are the most expensive sandwich shop in town.Figure the wait to be 15-25 minutes for your sandwich, and figure on paying between 8-12 dollars for your sandwich. Other than those 2 giant negatives, these guys make the absolute best sandwich in Asheville, Hands-down.
Yum!. Roman’s is one of my favorite lunch spots — fresh ingredients, super tasty, affordable prices, and friendly service. The panini-grilled sandwiches are awesome, and the pasta salad is the best I’ve ever had.
Great food and fast delivery! Absolutely love the food and the fast delivery makes lunch easy while working. The caprese sandwich is my favorite.
