It’s not Tex Mex, but it’s the best Mexican food I’ve found in the area!. I’ve been in Asheville for 10 years now and I still haven’t found a Mexican restaurant that comes close to what you find in Texas, but I’ve settled in for the long run here (Asheville) and have claimed Papas & Beer as my go-to when I want Mexican food. My favorite dish is the Cream Chicken (not enchiladas), and I order it with ONLY peppers and onions (no tomatoes or zucchini, which I don’t feel belong in this dish or in fajitas). I’m not a fan of their guacamole, so I sometimes bring my own. Their margaritas are the best!! And service is usually great and the staff very friendly.
Food good…bad customer service. Once by phone csll in order and once sit down!!!Probably my last visit to this one!!!
Good Food. Good stuff and no complaints, will return!!!!!!!!!!!
The Relleno from ???????. I don’t think this is the same owners of the Papas and Beer restaurants of the Hendersonville P&B. I stopped in the other day for lunch and ordered the chili Relleno. So at first I have the anticipation of a stuffed chilli, mouth running like a water fall. So I get a few salas for my chips. These are not the same as the others? A thought that ran through my head. Then I really got to looking round and the feeling was not the same as the others. The waiters, salas’s and everything, I have entered a restaurant that I don’t know? So then arrived my Relleno plate, not the usual plate but a plate full of junk. Rice I had trouble eating, beans that looked like bean soup and a chili Relleno that was soggy and full of cold cheese. All I can say is the sweet tea was good. This was an Idian restaurant before maybe Mother of India swapped cuisines? 3 of 10 and that’s pushing it. If I am wrong I am really disappointed in this place.
I’ve eaten Mexican all over the u.s. and this is by far the best period. Consistent and always fast and fresh. Every dish is incredibly flavorful and have yet to find something that’s just ok. 11/10. Favorite dish is the spicy green enchiladas. So much flavor it’s like a hoppin fiesta in your mouth. All of the locations seem to be equally as good as well.
Not the Same Owners and Not the Hendersonville NC Location. This is a seperately owned Papa’s and Beer from the one on Tunnel, on Brevard and in Hendersonville. It pretty much is a rip-off of those locations and tries to be very very similar. This is fine by me, but people don’t realize that the menu is a lil different. I’m uploading a menu to help those of you who want to order takeout.
I just became a huge fan…. Of Papa’s & Beer! I will definitely stop here, from now on, anytime I pass through Asheville. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious – AND the house margarita had the perfect mixture of Jose Cuervo. I have not had great experiences with house margaritas at most of the Mexican restaurants I’ve tried. I’m excited about my next visit =)
