Diner from SW Virginia. The view is spectacular and wait staff was very attentive. The food was not as impressive. We ordered scallops which were around $36 and they weren’t cooked all the way through and neither was the steak we ordered that was $42! For this price, the food should at least be cooked properly… will not be back.
It is not what it used to be…. My husband and I have spent many nights at the Grove Park Inn. We loved the ambiance, the food, and the history of the Inn. However, this all changed last night. We took our out of town friends to the Sunset Terrace for dinner. The salads were delicious. The steaks were awful. I ordered a filet medium and my husband and his friend ordered the bone in ribeye Pittsburgh medium rare. All of the steaks were well done and had no flavor. The waiter said he would have them remake the steaks, and they would be ready in 8 minutes. It wasn’t anywhere close to 8 minutes, but we did all receive a new steak. The manager came over to make sure that they were better this time around. Mine was well done again. He offered to remake mine a third time, and I said no thank you. My husband’s steak was also not done Pittsburgh style. The steaks had no flavor and tasted like they had been previously frozen. I would recommend going for a drink at the bar and walking around…Just don’t stay for dinner! There are too many amazing restaurants in Asheville to go back to the Sunset Terrace.
Top level, attentive service. Two types of steaks, one medium, one medium rare both of us extremely pleased. Perfect. Lobster on side no better than okay. Good wine recommendations too.
Beautiful view, great service and good food.
Gorgeous food, view, drink, and service. LOVE it.
Terrible service, 27 minutes before server showed up
Not worth the price, and then some. If you are not staying at the Grove Park Inn, expect to be seated second class. As well, the food was the worst we’ve ever had. The nicoise salad was like from a cafeteria, ice cold and pre-prepared, wrapped in plastic and lacking in flavor and texture as well. The tuna was not fresh either and had a bad smell (am an avid lover of tuna). When we complained, they wouldn’t do anything except apologize. For $20, without beverage and tip for one salad…..? Don’t waste your time or money.
