Lived in New Mexico for 33 years and was hoping I could get a Hatch Chile fix here but the Zia was a huge disappointment. Not sure what I had. We ordered the red Chile enchiladas and YUCK. Could not even pass for mediocre mexican let alone New Mexican style and taste. The rice was lumpy, the Borracho beans tasted like nothing I have ever experienced before and not in a good way. The staff was friendly but that was not enough to overcome the substandard food.
Went to Zia Taqueria for a late lunch with my daughter and a friend. We decided to sit inside in order to have table service. Elizabeth was our server and she was wonderful! I ordered an unsweet tea and the girls ordered water. We started out with a cheese dip and chips and salsa. My daughter and I each ordered a Baja fish taco (the special of the day for $2.50) and a carnita enchillada ($3.69) and a side of rice ($1.99). My friend got the pumpkin enchilladas with black beans and rice ($10.99). Everything was delicious! Even though we were way too full we split the sopapillias and chocolate tres leches cake. Both very good, but we favored the sopapillas. Very enjoyable meal.
