The restaurant itself looks nice and has good ambience. However, the bread we received for the table was speckled with mold – green spots of mold were visible on most slices of bread in dim lighting. In addition to hygiene concerns, this place is not very accommodating to vegetarians. There is no vegetarian entree on the menu but the vegetarian in our group was told she could pick from the vegetables on the menu to create a vegetable plate. The server refused to let her order mushrooms and one other vegetable stating that they were only for people who order a particular entree – which was embarrassing for us as the hosts. Best avoided.
My wife’s most favorite place to eat. Best duck ever! And I love how they change their menu up. Makes me try different dishes every time.
Hidden Gen. I have had multiple people recommend I try Bistro Roca, and boy am I glad they did. We arrived around 5:30pm with a party of three and no reservation (strongly recommend one). We were quickly seated and ordering the appetizer sampler with 4 different spreads (hummus, olive tapenade, house made pimento cheese, and house made boursin cheese). I enjoyed all but the tapenade, however olive spreads are not my favorite. After quite some time our main course was delivered. The Salmon looked and tasted fantastic, beautiful display and no part of it was skimpy. The Duck pizza which was fantastic, mainly due to the ridiculously delicious crust. Finally our third member had the wedge salad (has a bite to it which was good but nothing spectacular) and the mac & cheese (good but nothing to write home about).The atmosphere was great, we sat on the patio with a fire going and enjoyed every minute. Prices were very decent Salmon for $24, personal pizza $10, and wedge/ mac and cheese were $15 total.
They served me raw pork. They should have given me my meal for free but still charged me.
Disaster!. The inviting interior and food presentation cannot make up for the poor attitude at this place. When the parking lot was full, we were directed to public parking two blocks away. We arrived at 7, and already the two special entrees, the calamari appetizer, and one dessert were unavailable. No apologies. Food preferences (dont blacken the beef, no garlic in one meal) were just not accommodated. And what bar doesnt serve Woodford Reserve? BTW, they also lost our reservation and the kitchen was slow – it took 2.5 hours for the meal. This place had a take it or leave it attitude that we would recommend leaving. There are plenty of restaurants in Blowing Rock that care about the customer.
Had a wonderful diner at Bistro Roca. The food is awesome, great atmosphere, and nice cocktail selection. The staff is super friendly and all the locals highly recommend it.
