  Terrible experience. Looking forward to a fine dinner. Seated at empty, unset table in small, loud room that felt like a hallway. Sat for 10 minutes with wait staff all around and no service. Left.

  Delightful. Came here after a long day of sightseeing at Grandfather Mountain and the Blowing Rock area. I had made a reservation so seating was no problem. The staff was friendly and courteous. Atmosphere is mountain lodge/art gallery as Bob Timberlake has paintings everywhere. Nice.We stopped in the bar first, which is small but efficient. Then, dinner was excellent. Starting with delicious lightly fried oyster sliders, wife and I had grilled salmon, seared perfectly with a yummy blackberry and grape tomato relish, and a couple of nice-sized grilled shrimp drizzled with a lemon-dill pesto. Wilted Swiss chard is the side. Other dishes in our party were the ribeye, cooked medium had great juice and flavor and then the scallops – oh man the scallops were outstanding. Seared outside, tender inside served over angel hair pasta with a heirloom tomato and onion jam. Wow. If you are staying at Chetola, bon apetit! and if you are in Blowing Rock and just want a really nice unpretentious, yet top-notch dining experience, Timberlake’s is the place to go.
