I find Chinese buffets overall in NC crap. But with buffets this is relative , how do compare them when most of them are well, crap. Relatively speaking this is the best of them all, in my opinion.
Choose the right food. If your going to an Asian buffet, you should select the food native to the culture. I found many great options on the buffets at Shogun. If not going for the hibachi, which is by far the best option there, then the bars offer some nice gems. Including the general tso chicken, Singapore chicken, and also the best dish you can create from the bar is to get some white rice from the steamer and pour some chicken and broccoli over it. The sushi bar is what anyone would expect offering a numerous variety of choices. For desert, go get a couple Chinese doughnuts and pour some of the delicious Oreo pudding over top!
Okay Buffet. We tried this spot for takeout after we found Asiana on Smoky Park Highway was closed for renovations. I would say it’s an okay Chinese buffet, with some Japanese and other Asian dishes, plus, oddly, a few American items such as macaroni and cheese. Overall I’d say it’s somewhat less appealing than Asiana but okay in a pinch.
Greatest Chinese Buffet Ever!. This place is great! Hundreds of selections including anything from Chinese, Japanese, and also American fare. The highlight of this place is that there is an included hibachi grill. Its the same deal as if you were to go to an expensive sit down Japanese hibachi restaurant except its all included in the price. Make sure to ask for Troy when visiting the hibachi grill, he keeps you laughing and cooks your food to perfection. The best combination to put on your plate at the hibachi is rice, shrimp, onions, broccoli, and to top it off, fresh steaks have been cut for your enjoyment. Also ask him to cook an egg in the mixture, hibachi sauce, sesame, and to top it all off ask to have hot sauce cooked in. Best plate hands down.
BEST ASIAN FOOD AROUND. Shogun Buffet has a delicious variety of foods. Didn’t put a single thing on my plate that I didn’t like. Everything was nice, hot and fresh. A real treat for the taste buds. The kimonos were a nice touch too. Atmosphere very Asian.
