Awesome!!!!!!. We have been to Umami twice now….they have only been open a few weeks….It it great!! One of the best fillets I have ever eaten..They changed their chicken..now it has teriyaki sauce on it…It is great too…They have a new look, inside, very impressed with the change…Haven’t tried their desserts yet, but they said they have a pastry chef and they are really good..They give you so much food, I’m never hungry for dessert though…You should give this place a visit and you’ll be hooked!
Diamond in the Rough.. I am a Sanford native and sushi lover. I was sceptacle when umami opened. I was more than pleasenlly surprised the first time we ate there. I have not had one bad experience at Umami and have made probably 2 dozen trips including business lunches and friday night sushi takeout. The staff and owner/chef are super friendly. The sushi is top notch and on par with the best i’ve had in the Raleigh/ Cary area. I would recommend this place 150%, especially if you have vendors or suplliers in town for the Far East. I can’t speak really for the cooked food because i have yet to try it, but fromm the word on the street it is also very good. Excellent sushi.
It was okay. I took my kids there and the only highchair was being used by another family. Had to get the food to go. $55 for takeout is a little expensive.
This is a gem in a patch of rough. Sushi in Sanford…definitely a surprise. The staff is very helpful and the owner/chef very friendly. Try something off the menu…handrolls. Scrumcious! Two trips and counting.
YUMMOOO!!!. Sleek and sexy sushi!I’ve been to Umami several times and never had a bad experience.The food and the service is wonderful. I used to dine at Kanki and waraji regularly back in the days before they went down hill and found Umami to be step above them and the rest. I am glad I found this place. Their sushi is well prepared and presented. The rolls (Braza, Titanic Liner, Green Hornet, Crazy Umami) were some of the best sushi rolls i’ve had and sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Their menu is very diverse and has something for everyone. I asked for their recommendations and it paid off. Price is on the average side for such a nice establishment. Nothing but love for this place.
What a find…fantastic. I travel a lot and always try to find a good sushi joint and as you know that can be tough to do. This place is a real treat. Roger the owner is a culinary school grad who has spent most of his career doing sushi. This is a new location for the restaurant and he has a pastry chef working with him too. The Sushi was great and you can put yourself in Rogers hands for the selection and not be disappointed. And for the big sushi fans….ready for this….REAL WASABI!!!! The rest of the menu was impressive with the asian fusion theme. The deserts were great and at $6 each I tried two of them (their bananas foster spring roll and the locally famous brownie cake)
