I should have read the reviews before wasting my time. My wife and I decided to visit on the word of a local. The first problem was when the waitress said she normally ask her tables to put 20, one dollar bills on the side of the table. Then, each time something was wrong, you could take a dollar from her tip. Really? Strike one. I ordered the fried combination and the wife ordered the broiled dinner. When my chowder came out it was tepid at best, almost cold. Strike two. When the plates came out, mine was OK but her’s was not up to par. The asparagus was cold, the shrimp and the lobster tail were overcooked and rubbery. Strike three. My waitress did speak to the manager but they never came to our table. Ballgame is over. There is no reason for us to ever return. It seems these places really don’t try because the tourist are trapped and will eat almost anything. It is sad.
Would not recommend. My husband and I were very underwhelmed with our dining experience this evening. He had the broiled seafood special. The lobster was over cooked & tough. The other items were under seasoned. I had the crab legs which were cooked fine however the meat inside was sparse. The calamari was good.
The Grouper Picatta ..It Was Amazing and Perfection! Crab Legs and Oysters Were Too. Lemon caper sauce with a wonderful piece of grouper with and egg wash batter pan saluted. Yum
This place almost had it all, except one vital part…our waitress, Sheila. Our meal for three was by far the most expensive of the trip, but was the worst. Most of the items were served cool and settled to the plate. They could have been amazing meals, had they been fresh and hot. The waitress never refilled drinks, wasn’t helpful with to go boxes, and took forever between visits to our table. It wasn’t busy and she only had three tables. It took over 15 minutes from the time we finished until she came to see if we needed anything. We were all annoyed and unsatisfied by the time we left. Thank goodness for Squigley’s Ice Cream!!! Skip dinner at Deck House and go there instead.
Not sure why everybody says it’s expensive. To be a seafood/steakhouse at the beach it is reasonable. It is in an old church and has great atmosphere. It was recommended by friends and I can see why. Great food and service. Love the tuna.
Yepper!. Expensive but well worth the money. As you would hope to expect being close to the ocean, the seafood is much fresher and tastier than you would find most places. The grouper chowder was my favorite. My wife got the least expensive steak on the menu (top sirloin) Even at that, she said it was the best steak she has ever had. I had a bite and it was better than most strips or ribeyes you can get elsewhere. Pricey yes, but well worth it.
A must. Had dinner here the past two Fridays with guests. The first night six of us were seated in the dining room. I had their Grouper Classic with crabmeat and lobster sauce topping. Absolutely to die for. Others in the party had various items from appetizers to full course. All were pleased with the food. Only drawback was what may have been a new waiter. He never mentioned the daily specials; had to be asked for to obtain drink refills; had to request appetizer plates; and mixed up 2 orders. The second visit was with three of us and we chose to eat at the bar. The broiled seafood special included scallops, shrimp, lobster tail and a large fish filet…all cooked to perfection. If you are a prime rib aficionado, this is the place to go. A 1# serving of medium-rare blackened prime is the best I have had. Cooked to perfection with a remarkable flavor. Prime rib is only available weekends. Salads and sides were average. Stuffed mushrooms and crab dip appetizers were outstanding. If you are new to Carolina Beach, this is a must visit.
