Does not live up to the hype. Ordered the city sampler. The turkey was cold (maybe it was supposed to be, but with bbq?). Biggest issue was that I ordered fries as a side. I had to go back after the mgr assured me they’d be out in 2 minutes. They finally came out when we were finished and the bacon was charred. But the sausage was great!

Food here is awesome especially the Lo Lo’s pulled BBQ on a bun, the brisket naked, the fries and everything else. We love coming here! Best BBQ! We drive an hour just to come to eat at this location. The first time we experienced City BBQ we saw the collegiate flags and noticed there wasn’t a pirate flag and joked about it to a guy cleaning around the floor/fix’n area (it was the owner) and this time we came to eat and there was an ECU flag hanging! Awesome service and food. Highly recommend.

I guess it’s a complete waste of time writing a scathing but well-deserved review if you expect the managers/owners to actually DO something to improve, but at least it might make enough people think twice about eating here that they are forced to close their doors. I live right around the corner from this place and have been there 3 times. The first time was shortly after they opened and I ordered take out over the phone because the line was about 2 hrs long. I picked up a take-out menu, but when I called, the illiterate moron taking my order acted like I was reading off the menu from a completely different restaurant. If you’re concerned about your fat intake, don’t ever order take out and then look at it the next day after it’s been in the fridge overnight. Every single item I ordered was encased in a solidified mass of fat. The lemonade probably has fat in it for all I know. The second time I ordered take out, I got the pulled chicken. The 3 things wrong with it were 1) I ordered the pulled pork, 2) it was swimming in some gross looking, fatty, watery liquid and 3) it had absolutely zero flavor. Confidence was NOT high when, in a charitable mood, I decided to give them a 3rd chance (once should be more than enough for any restaurant). This time I ate inside the restaurant. Does every restaurant in Cary hire their staff straight out of drug rehab or something? Clueless, uncaring, incompetent morons. The pulled pork was served cold. Cold pork is what I would give to induce vomiting in someone who just swallowed poison. If you’re bulemic, this place is pure heaven. If you’re someone who knows and loves real NC barbeque, go to Allen and Sons or Smithfields or Bullocks.

Disapointing. Not that great. When they first opened there were lines out the door. Today I was able to just walk right in and now I know why. I got the lunch platter with 2 sides. In the plus column the side dishes were larger than the sandwich. The BBQ pork on a bun was small, very small, think airplane food small, An hour later, I was hungry again. Some lunch. Overall the food was bland in spite of the fact that there is a strong wood oven smell when you walk into the place. Was the food flavorful? NoWere the portions adequate? NoWas it a good value? NoWill I go back? No way.

Where’s the Pepto….. First and last visit. We ordered two pulled pork sandwiches. Fatty, greasy, on too small a bun. Served on a greasy piece of paper stuck on a aluminum serving tray. Little taste, unremarkable BBQ sauces – basically a hunk of barely warm meat on a greasy bun. Screaming kids seemed to be having ‘fun’. If you like real BBQ (of whatever variety) go somewhere else.
