Excellent Thai. I went here for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated right away. The menu was nice and had a lot to choose from but I was in the mood for some small bites and decided on a vegetarian bento box and the dumpling (gyoza) appetizer. The gyoza arrived in a few minutes and were like nothing I’ve had before! Absolutely delicious spiced, seasoned meat inside with the exterior lightly fried like a potato chip. My bento box arrived and contained: salted edemame, 4-pieces of a pickled vegetable sushi roll, white rice and tofu-vegetable green curry. The flavor of the curry was fantastic. I particularly loved the tofu’s flavor and texture, and the veggies were crisp-crunchy, not over cooked. I never had a veggie-only sushi roll, but it was very good. The pickled carrots and cucumber gave a nice contrast to the creamy avocado. I will definitely be back for the curry bento box and gyoza. I really can’t speak about the sushi yet, since I would have to try a few specialty rolls first.
I agree with the others that the food is a bit pricey fir the portion size. But, what you got was decent, but not stellar. Still looking for that awesome thai place in the triangle.

Good but there are limits. First off. Sorry but I like to at least have a choice of cocktails. They serve a very limited choice of beer and wine. The $4 glass of white wine I got tasted like every penny I spent! I got the Sashimi dinner. The fish was good and it came with a salad. All pretty tasty. My son got the children’s chicken Teriyaki; he did not like it; he’s 9, so I don’t look upon that as a fair measurement although he does like this type of food on a regular basis. All in all it was good, however, like other reviewers, I thought the price was a bit high for the amount of serving that is presented. Not sure I will return.
Food good, a bit pricey.. This was, I believe, my 2nd time to Thai Spices and Sushi…the last time was quite some time ago…I barely remember it, so I won’t base anything on that trip. The meal tonight (3/20/11) was fresh and tasty, the service was friendly and efficient, the seating comfortable and the decor was nice. That being said, it is a bit pricey for the serving sizes. The Curry Puff appetizer was five pieces and served with a little shredded cabbage/carrot garnish and a fresh little cucumber/onion pickle that was in a sweet and sort of musty rice vinegar sauce…interesting and tasty…but $6.95, if I recall correctly. Next, I ordered the Tom Kha soup…very nice. The broth was sweet with a little spice…the waitress asked if I wanted it medium, spicey or very spicey. I ordered it medium and it was very good. The only complaint is that a couple of pieces of the galanga and lemon grass were too woody, I ordered the seafood version and got 2 pieces of scallop, a nice shrimp and a mussell. Also $6.95, I think. The Sweet and Sour Sautee with pineapple was good,,,a little more sauce than necessary and a small bowl of rice…but good flavor and a nice mix of veggies. Tofu would have been no extra charge…not organic (so I’ve read) but I’m sure they would have gladly left it out. The base dish was around $10 and pork was $1 extra, as would have been chicken and I think beef was $2 and shrimp were $3 extra. For the price versus serving, it was a little high, in my opinion. Personally, I prefer Wasabi at MacGregor Shopping Center in Cary…especially for their salad with ginger dressing and Tom Kha soup; however, Thai Spices and Sushi was a more convenient location this evening and the overall experience was quite good. Dinner for two with appetizer, soup for me and salad for my daughter, entrees for both and 1 water/1 soda came to $41.65 plus tip. Oh, one more minor complaint…my Diet Coke refill was brought out in a pitcher and had NO carbonation. A new glass would have been better…the first one was fine. Anyway, I’ll return again when the location is convenient and the wallet isn’t too light!
Good food, bad prices. The good: The food here was pretty good. Not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but good enough I would eat it again. Delivery service was also very prompt which was great. The bad: The prices for the portion sizes are TERRIBLE. Maybe you get more food when you dine in, but when we opened up our containers we were pretty letdown by the amount of food. We got the papaya salad, the basil chicken, and the house curry, figuring that would be more than enough for two people with leftovers for lunch. There was hardly enough for us for dinner and we spent about $40 on everything. If you go to Tom Yum near Cary Towne Center $40 would buy you a feast of food to last you for dinner and lunch and maybe dinner again. We’ll be sticking with Tom Yum which is kind of a bummer because I was excited to have delivery Thai in the area finally.
They’ve Lost My Business.. I love the food at Thai Spices and Sushi, and have been eating there at least once a month. I asked the waiter Wed. night if the tofu was organic and was appalled to find out they don’t use organic tofu in their vegetarian dishes! That leaves me in a bind since I am a vegetarian. I like to eat healthy and non organic tofu is NOT healthy at all. That limits the menu items that I can eat. I guess I won’t be going back!27 Sep, 2010Great Food!. The food is wonderful. The restaurant has nice decor but the worst music I’ve ever been forced to listen to anywhere. The muzak they play is far worse than in any elevator I’ve ever been in and it’s on a never ending loop. How about some Thai music. Part of eating at an ethic restaurant is getting the overall flavor of the country including the music. The food is great! We eat there about once a month, and everything I’ve tried has been great. As far as I’m concerned this is the best Thai food in the Triangle and I’ve tried most places. Last week we tried dessert for the first time, as we are usually to full. It was so much better than anything I could imagine. The mango with sticky rice was incredible, the mango was the perfect ripeness. The tempura fried cheesecake with vanilla ice cream was to die for. I may have to order desserts to go a couple times a month!!
