Excellent vegetarian food! Having spent close to a year outside India, I wanted to have some authentic Indian food. Udupi Cafe’s perfect and have a wide range of dishes — do try out their lunch buffet!
Not good. Food was cold on buffet and not very tasty. Not as many options as other restaurants. No Nan on buffet or at table.
Not worth. We tried a lunch buffer. They dont even have NAN in the menu. The sambar taste is not good and even dosa are not good. Not worth for $13. None of the veg gravies were upto the standard.
Disappointing. Visited a few times and each time was progressively worse. Does the cook even know how to cook? Many items were stale and dry. Sambar and Rasam had more water than anything…The prices were too high and the service was horrible…I felt like I was unwelcome and always rushed. The only ‘good’ thing I can say about it is that it is close to my home though that really doesn’t make an impact if nothing else is good! Of the top of my head I can name many places better than Udupi. Tandoor Restaurant is the best for non-veg people but Sai Krishna Bhavan is the best for veg. I think non-veg will also enjoy SKB. Many of my non-veg friends do. Definitly skip it and head to other places or just eat at home!
Lunch is awesome. The lunch buffet is excellent with a lot of options. Dinner is more of a social gathering and can be somewhat expensive if you try several dishes. Service is fast and professional. This place is a treat.
Always excellent!. I usually do not recommend the buffet to judge an Indian restaurant, but Udupi is the exception. The dosa, idli, sombar, coconut chutney are great staple items and then the varied vegetable dishes and currries are always go good. I am a native Indian and not a vegetarian but could eat here daily!
I went to the cafe for the lunch buffet, not having been in a long time. It was very quiet that day and was a pleasant experience. There is always a nice variety of foods to choose from. It always helps do a bit of Indian food research before going to a buffet, it’ll help you enjoy the experience much more. Or ask at the restaurant, the folks there are hungry for someone to chat with and anxiously await the chance to help you.
