While seated and waiting to order a table next to us began making fun of a downs man telling everyone Merry Christmas. The server waiting on that table joined in with them, laughing at that man. My wife was upset and asked for management, but it became apparent that after 30 mins passed with no manager and no return server, the visit to Parkway House on Concord pkwy will no longer be a choice. I cannot give a review on the food as we were never served, but when the servers join the patrons poking fun at a man spreading joy, maybe it’s just not a place to visit after all.
Good Food, Great Service. Yes, the interior is looking tired and worn, but the restaurant is clean, food tasty, and wait staff was friendly and helpful. Biscuits were phenomenal! We ate breakfast here several times and had lunch here, too. Check their daily specials.
Breakfast quality and service has gone downhill. Pancakes used to be big and fluffy and tender. Today they were small, tough, and burnt. Even second batch if eggs were inedible and burnt. Server very slow and sadly uninformed about taking egg orders. This place used to be awesome on every level — sad to see it decline.
Down Home – Plain Home Cooking. I’ve been going to this restaurant for breakfast a couple of times a month and once or twice for lunch. Have never tried dinner so can not comment on it.Breakfast is a pleasant experience. Parkway House is a small family restaurant much like I remember growing up with and places we used to frequent late night when I was in college. Much like Mel’s Diner without Mel.Food is simple but very good. Service is great. Atmosphere is plain and almost rustic even to the checkered tablecloths but what can I say … it works.Best of all is the coffee. Always fresh brewed and someone is there to refill it when I need it.
