OK for BOGO. They have an all-you-can-eat option that’s reasonable if you are quite hungry, but you will be charged for any food you order but don’t eat. I didn’t take that option – we ordered from the sushi menu. The seaweed salad was ok – a little slimy on the bottom of the bowl, but thankfully it was served cold and had a good flavor. The miso soup wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had, but it was just ok.The sushi rolls were on par with other BOGO restaurants (like Tasu, Sushi Blues, etc.). Nothing exciting.Service was very uneven, given that there was only one other table being served. The food was served quickly but that was about the only good part.I doubt I’ll go back unless a friend wants to go, and then I’ll try an entree instead of the sushi. For the price, it wasn’t memorable.
Mom of Three. My adult son (I would never have taken my kids when they were little to a sushi restaurant…) and I visted recently and had a great experience. The wait staff were courteous and the food was delicious. We respected the work it took to make our 6 rolls and did not order more than we could eat. This place is a great deal for the price. Why a parent would bring a toddler and infant to a sushi restaurant is truly beyond my comprehension.
Great Buffet!. My boyrfriend and i went early on Friday (4:30ish) and we were the first ones there. The waitstaff was attentive and the orders were out in great time. I am sure the menu changes, but if they still have it and you like spicy the Black Pepper Tuna roll and Jalapeno roll were our favorites. The seaweed salad was great! The only thing that could have been better was the coconut shrimp…and the fact that you have to pay for any food you dont eat. We finished all of ours. As for the coconut shrimp…it was small and fried and the only coconut taste was the sauce they poured over it. Great experience…GO Hungry!
Buffet w/o a buffet table. When I come down to NC I make a special effect to go to the Orchid Restaurant. I live in Central NJ. You order your meal as you want to eat. So everything is hot and good. They sometimes mess up the items. $24 for Sushi dinner and all u want is great. It’s worth the money. Don’t complain that you got a small portion, just order more. If you are in a large group expect errors and delays just as if you are in any other restaurant. Stop complaining and order more and eat be happy
Outrageously slow. Our group of 10-15 has gone several times and it is horribly slow. I cannot see any of us going back. Most of us ordered the overpriced buffet and after 45 minutes began to complain that nothing had come out of the kitchen. When we ordered sushimi we got noodles. We began complaining every 10 minutes in an attempt to get a tuna roll or something for $25. I did not order off the buffet and got miso soup and 2 rolls which were fine but the didn’t get any wasabi or ginger. Another request without results. There are numerous places in briar creek or north hills to get FAR better service, better prices and better quality sushi.
Good Concept, Decent Sushi. I gave Orchid 4 out of 5 stars. The all you can eat (AYCE) sushi buffet was a cool concept and you definately get a lot for your money. However, I didn’t give it a perfect 5 stars because the sushi was good, not great. I’ve had better sushi in the Raleigh area. I would visit Orchid again though because it’s a good deal.
Went to dinner here for the first time tonight, just me and my two year old daughter. I couldn’t hve been happier with the food or the service. Everyone was very friendly, service was fast, dishes came out the appropriate temperatures and were beautiful. I’d heard rave reviews of their seaweed salad so thought I’d try it. It was okay, just not to my taste. My daughter LOVED it though and ate almost the entire portion herself. The shrimp tempura was crispy and not too greasy, the calamri was tender and lightly breaded, spring rolls and pork dumplings were good but not my favorite. Didn’t care for their California roll. I LOVED their sweet potato sushi and their shrimp teriyaki. I’ve also read reviews from people who said the green tea ice cream tasted like green vanilla ice cream. Perhaps Orchid has improved their recipe or other peoples palates are different from mine but I distinctly tasted the green tea flavor. It was delicious! My daughter (who doesn’t normally care for sweets) ate an entire bowl by herself; had to order another so I could have some. Lol
