Worst Chinese food ever. Everything from the General Tso’s chicken, the pork fried rice, the disgusting attempt at Sesame chicken down to the egg rolls, was by far the worst Chinese food experience we have ever had. Staff was very friendly upon picking up our take out order but I was a bit perplexed that on a Saturday night at 6:30 and App. students just coming back in, that the place was that empty. First sign of things to come I guess. We’re from Wilmington so believe me we know how bad touristy restaurants can be but next time in Boone I will make it a point to seek out the true locals input.
Gone Downhill. Hunan used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Boone. Probably ate there once a week for 15 years. But things have slowly gone downhill. First our favorite waiter who always knew what we wanted before we sat down left the restaurant. It seems I am not alone in missing his absence. Now there is a big turnover in staff. Some of the staff are even a bit rude. The last straw came when we ordered our meal, it came 45 minutes later, and was cold.I really hate to see my favorite chinese restaurant in this shape. I used to love to come in, get my steamed dumplings (which are best I have ever eaten) and my favorite mu shu port or mongolian beef. Only the dumplings still taste the same.Sadly, I won’t go again. It seems management doesn’t care about it’s employees, and it shows in the service. Really a shame. I’ll miss it.
Mediocre. Tried this for the lunch special. Food was mediocre at best. Lunch special was priced ok but the portions were very small. Got spring roll instead of egg roll. Little to no flavor- got Wonton soup- One Wonton-very disappointing.Would not try this again.
Great Chinese Food. The food is awesome, friendly staff. I love the dumplings, they are great. The fortune cookies seem to be eerily spot on with what kind of person I am though.
New Management?. I’ve been eating at this resaurant for the last 15 years or so. Usually has some of the best Chinese food in Boone. Food is still good but the prices have skyrocketed for lunch. The egg roll and soup is now ala carte for an extra 0.50 each with the entree. Now lunch and drink and tip set me back almost $10.00. I know things have gone up but It used to cost almost half of that.
Best Chinese In Boone. Whether you are looking for take-out chinese, or a sit down meal, this is the place in boone. The restaurant isn’t a five star resort on the inside, but the food is good and the service is adequate. The hostess seemed to genuinely care about our satisfaction. If you are complaining about the portions, the chicken fried rice delivers a lot of food for not much money. The general tso’s wasn’t overly spicy which I liked, but if you are seeking a fire breathing experience you might want to ask for more spice. Beef and broccoli was very good, fresh broccoli, and if you know American Chinese, this dish is the great indicator. The won ton soup was great, with lots of green onion, no skimping. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, except picky foodies who complain about everything boone has to offer. Also, Boone take out delivers the goods until 9pm.
Tasty. Consistent, flavorful food. Everything you expect to find on the menu and some unique, fresh options. Well-priced, good service. Not gluten-free.
