Bar Virgile is the cocktail bar to go to in Durham. The brick walled interior gives an intimate feel to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is extremely tiny, with limited seating in both the restaurant and bar. We went on a weekend, which we sound extremely crowded. Due to that, the service was extremely slow. With only two bartenders, it took a long time to order. I had the manhattan to start with, which was solid. My friend had their special spicy margarita, which was strong and packed some heat from the hot sauce. We ordered dinner as well, which took far too long. We ended up taking our meal to go. I really loved the fettuccine, which was cooked with fresh green beans and covered in pesto. My friend’s risotto was overwhelmingly made with garlic, making it difficult to eat by itself. I suppose if we had come on a different night, we may have had a better experience.
One of the best meals I’ve had in Durham. Comfortable setting Ann’s incredibly accommodating staff. I can’t wait to go back. Try the salmon.

Solid classic cocktails. Ramos Gin Fizz is very strong. I highly recommend it. Never tried the food. Small space so tight/lively when crowded.
Great atmosphere. Incredible service. Small plate food. The shoestring French fries are awesome. They make their own sausages. Wonderful cheese and charcuterie offerings. Cocktail recipes from the pre-prohibition era. An easy walk from DPAC. We will definitely be back.
