Just had lunch. Mufaletta with soup side very good. Wife had a gyro plate. She liked it but thought Mediterra’s lamb was tastier and spicier. Menu and decor more upscale than a typical strip mall restaurant. But our lunch portions would easily pass for a nice dinner. Restaurant was crowded and arrivals after us had to wait, but we just walked in. Staff very friendly and professional. Crowded tables and small aisles make it a little kid unfriendly. Overall good food and menu selection at a good price.
Service was superb, food was excellent. Water after the 1.5hour, $230 meal for 4 was denied as wait staff was being pressured by the owner to clear the table for the next reservation. Will spend our money elsewhere in the future–you should too.
Great meal with disappointing ending. Four of us enjoyed a great meal at Bleu Olive tonight and we were in the process of finishing up an enjoyable evening when our wait person came to clear some things from our table. When my husband asked for more water, the wait person told him that he was sorry but he had been instructed to clear the table because it was needed. We were so surprised by what he said that we didn’t comment. A few minutes later he returned to clear the rest of the table and began taking our water glasses. I was still drinking my water and told him that I would like to finish it. Again, he told us he had been instructed to clear our table. While our wait person provided excellent service and all of our food was very good, none of us plan to return there. We spoke to the person we assume to be the the owner on our way out and she implied that no one was asked to leave, and while it wasn’t explicitly asked of us, we were certainly made to feel unwelcome. Thank goodness there are plenty of good restaurant owners in this town that provide excellent customer service. The woman at Bleu Olive is not among them.
The Handicapped are NOT welcome at Bleu Olive. My partner and I had reservations there New Year’s Eve and were looking forward to trying the place since it’s change in name and the owners’ son taking over the menu and management. We had always enjoyed the food at Papa’s Grille, but found the atmosphere too formal and stiff, and the female owner overbearing and rude. Well, she’s still ever present at Bleu Olive, and just as overbearing and rude as ever! My partner uses a walker since breaking her back a few years ago, and the chairs are too low for her to sit in comfortably. The hostess took us to a table and my partner asked for a chair to be removed so she could sit on her walker. As the hostess was doing this, the female owner came up and said that couldn’t be done because it would block the walkway. There seemed to be room for others to walk by and also other places for us to sit. She asked my partner to sit in a chair. My partner explained that a chair was too low for her, and her walker was set to fit under a table. The owner had raised her voice while saying these things and my partner was embarrassed and said we would have to leave. The owner said she didn’t want us to leave, but her body language said otherwise and we got up and left. We have not been met with anything but hospitality at other restaurants of all types! We will not return, and hope her son realizes the effect his mother is having on the restaurant’s business!
Spectacular!. We arrived early and had the place pretty much to ourselves (5pm). The staff was friendly and the menu was mouth watering. This place apparently is a remodel from a somewhat successful family Greek restaurant. We ordered three dishes and appetizers. Overall I would say our experience was very favorable. If we hadn’t grown up with some of these dishes prepared by our mothers and grandmothers, it would be 100%, but you know how it is when you mother makes it, too. We did not order drinks. I would return here in a heartbeat and so when I visit Durham area, I will be certain to return. Kudos to the re-opening!
Once again we visited Bleu Olive. The quality and cleanliness remains outstanding as well as the wait staff. We had Lamb tenderloins which were tender and delicious and med- rare like we asked for. Sides were just average on this trip. We told Travis our waiter that we had not eaten in ten hours and he had fresh bread and garlic roasted olive oil on the table in less than 5 minutes. Thanks Travis! Also enjoyed asiago roasted cheese and pepper appetizer too.21 Jun, 2013Wonderful food- on the med-hi priced but worth every penny. I had Paella and hubby had Lamb Bolonese. Both were great and cooked fresh to order. And Maggie the server was sweet and attentive. Like the remodel.
So Good!. I eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and all are unbelievable and food is out of this world good never disappointed! Everything is made fresh and the service is great the owner is so friendly and its a great place to eat with friends, date night, family or a girls night. I love that I can grab a quick breakfast here or a nice dinner depending on my mood and what my budget and time allows. The food for anytime of the day is great what a great find! I will continue to eat here again and again.
