Friendly people, decent coffee, so-so food, styrofoam plates. The location was good, the people were nice, the coffee was fine (Larry’s beans), and the breakfast was so-so–very basic, not much concern for quality, presentation, or health. I would have enjoyed it more if everything weren’t served with styrofoam and plastic utensils. At least the coffee was served in ceramic mugs. Paid with credit card (someone below said cash only).
It’s What a Local Coffee Shop Should Be. 1. Always good coffee–Larry’s Beans are well-roasted, fairly traded, and served in a daily variety, with free refills.2. You can get your work done–wifi works very well, there are quiet spots to concentrate, and soft music playing.3. You can have a meeting or get in a conversation–two main seating areas accommodate getting down to business or spinning out the yarns.4. Local people–local owner, local workers, local baked goods, local coffee roaster, local politicians, local business people, local university folks, local moving and shaking.5. Growing and adapting to its clientele–over the years, this business has changed, grown, improved, and maintained its commitment to serve its regular customers and the people who live and work in central Durham.
Don’t waste your time or $$$!. Ordered a veggie burger and when I went to pick it up, I tried to tell counter girl that website needed to be updated because prices and items had changed. She then scoured and treated me rudely. When I got back to office, I found they had put my over-microwaved burger (YUCK) on WHITE BREAD! I won’t EVER go back there again!
Rude and cash only. I went there with a friend for coffee and dessert a few weeks ago and the person working there couldn’t have been more rude or unhelpful. Apparently she was the only person working in the whole place and we had to wait almost 10 minutes for her to even acknowledge we were there and another 10 minutes for her to take our order. After waiting 20 minutes, she rudely informed us they only take cash. She wasn’t the least bit apologetic and acted like it was burden to wait on us. Never going back.
