Best hushpuppies and tasty, consistent chopped barbecue. Bullock’s was the first eastern style carolina barbecue that I had, over 25 years ago. Just went there last week and it was still delicious, and a great value. Service is friendly and the hush puppies are the best! We went to another barbecue place in Raleigh this trip, and the hush puppies were not nearly as good, and more expensive barbecue.

Yuck. Ewww… I wIll never eat there again. This was my first time and my takeout experience was not good. Brisket was chewy with a flavor like old refrigerated meat. The crappy sauce did not help. Banana pudding was a well-blended mass of mostly off-brand tasting vanilla wafers and something sticky (maybe the meringue or marshmallow, I couldn t tell)… almost no pudding or banana in there. Hush puppies were not bad, but not the best I ve had. Brunswick stew was actually good though. The takeout menu I took home promptly went in the trash along with most of the food. Gordon Ramsey, where are you?

WeNt here on a Friday night and we were very happy with our meals and service. Great pork BBQ, ribs, and tea. My wife had the seafood platter which was very homestyle and plentiful. Nice folks! Cantbelieve I’ve lived inthe area for 35+ years and never visited. I’ve had their catering a lot though.

Average prices. Mediocre food. Slow service with semi-rude staff. Items on menu not available. Does not accept cc or debit cards. (Use the ATM in the lobby instead, for a $2.35 fee, of course!) Overall NOT a pleasant experience. I have come to expect more from a southern hospitality resturaunt, and this one does NOT deliver. Not recommended. One star, maybe two…

Everyday delicious. This is the kind of place you could come every day and be happy. It is more of a diner than a BBQ in my opinion. The menu seems to try to have something for everyone, but don’t be put off by that. I had oysters and BBQ and both were good. The fried oysters, a personal favorite, were simply awesome. I couldn’t imagine better. The BBQ didn’t wow me, and required significant spicing up before I was happy. The service could have been better, but they were nice. I can’t wait to return. I think I’ll try the stew next time, if I can keep myself off the oysters. Bonus: really reasonable prices. This place strikes me as close to perfect. I feel a bit like Goldilocks, Bullock’s is just right for me.

Great homey place. I go here sometimes for lunch and have always had good service and good food. The ‘cue is great!! And I highly recommend the fried okra. Its really nice to site down, get a fresh basket of hushpuppies and sweet tea. Yum yum!!
