The burger was extraordinary, but the heap of fries that came along was even better! It’s an absolute delight to spend an autumn afternoon on the patio, enjoying dinner!
Fed fries are awesome and easily feed group of 4. The Italian sandwich is a great option as well. Very impressed with overall atmosphere and service. Will definitely be back!
Great burger
Always come back for the good food. There are places that want to be your goto comfort food station. Elmo’s comes to mind. And yet Elmo’s consistently misses the mark (I’ll skip the details. I’ve been to Elmos plenty of times. Elmos is among the most uninspiring versions of goto food that I have experienced in Durham.) But back to the Federal… The menu items are interesting, The food is well prepared. The prices may be a tad higher than they need to be. But for consistent and interesting, try the federal for lunch – anytime.
Great veggie options!. I’ve been a vegetarian for 12 years and I’ve never had a better blackbean burger, very pleased.
Excellent. This place is fabulous! It is a bar with food as mentioned below – however, not your typical bar food. I went for lunch and had the grilled cheese sandwich. It was a gourmet grilled cheese loaded with veggies and a side of fries with a garlic garnish. Outstanding. Definitely recommend and will definitely visit again when I’m in Durham!
