Best place to stop after work in downtown durham. Go for the beer after work with friends! Stay for a warm shot of Irish whiskey when it’s cold and rainy. Food is on par for a bar.. Specials can be worthwhile.

YES! Just had the Beef Tenderloin sandwich with the Composed Salad. I’m not even a salad person, but this salad has changed my foodie life forever. And the food gets CHEAPER between 10 PM and 2 AM?! This place rocks. That’s all the words I have for this place.

NEW MENU. I had the opportunity to sample several of the new menu items on the James joyce menu. They hired Chef Consulatant Paul Curley to come over from Ireland to redo the menu to offer a more authentic Irish experience, the full menu officially started yesterday. I must say, it was very impressive. The ribs, which I think will become their new signature dish, were mouth watering, tender and the Chef’s secret spice rub and bbq sauce are unbelievable. The Guiness Pie, and Irish Stew are hearty and delicious, kinda makes you feel at home. The fish and chips….which I am no fan of usually, were light, delicate and tasty…you could see the fish right through the batter. I look forward to going back again and eat my way through their new menu. Cheers James Joyce, you did this right!!!
