Piedmont was disappointing. I like the ambience; the wait staff is efficient; the menu is absolutely wonderful; but the execution–that is the food–did not live up to the promise of the menu. The salmon salad was way too salty. The pear soup was not light and spring-like, but heavy. The brioche French toast was nothing special at all. My husband ordered the BBQ plate and said, based on it, he would not return.

Fabulous Service. Love the menu, love the local products, absolutely loved the service, but did not like the risotto at ALL. Our server exchanged it for the chicken roulade, delicious! And did not charge us for the risotto. We will definitely go back.

Excellent brunch. We were recently fortunate enough to have brunch at The Piedmont in Durham. If you are ever in that area or live there, I highly recommend it. The trout dip is a must for dinner or brunch, the French toast was possibly the best I have ever had. Wait staff was courteous and attentive, the noise level was moderate, we had no trouble carrying on our conversation. I have dined there several times now, have never been disappointed.

A very nice meal. Three of us went to Piedmont on a Sunday night. Our last meal here was not that great, but we thought we should give it another try. I’m very glad we did – this was an excellent meal! Interesting menu choices (we took three different appetizers – one salad, one cheese plate, and one trout dip with crostini). Nothing fancy – just good. For our mains, two of us took the duck leg confit with gnochi – it was exceptional, the coating nicely crisp and yet tender inside. Lots of flavor. The other person had, and liked, the steak. Desserts were the highlight, esp. the million dollar pie which was redolent of cinnamon. Nice wine list, excellent service. A wonderful evening. Highly recommended – we’ll be back.

I’ll be back!. Farm-fresh food prepared with care, as pleasing to the eye as to the palate. The roasted tilefish was outstanding, and the dessert of sticky date cake with salted caramel ice cream was to die for. The entire meal was as good as it gets, and the service was excellent. Piedmont is a real star in Durham’s culinary crown.

Good but has Issues.. To start with we had the Frito Miso and Lattas Ranch Fried Egg Salad. The Frito Miso was ok, it was greasier than tempura should be and the lemon aioli was horrible. The Lattas Ranch Fried Egg Salad was very very good.We ordered 2 entrees and split them, the Sweet Potato Ragout and the Mushroom Risotto. The Mushroom Risotto was very good and it came to the table very hot. The piece of rosemary bread that came with the entrees was good. The Sweet Potato Ragout was ok but it came to the table ice cold, I had to send it back. How can a restaurant be serving ice cold food at 6pm when they just opened for the night at 5:30. Tells me that they don’t make their food fresh daily. They charge $2 for bread and butter, I lived in San Francisco for over 20 years, and never went to a restaurant that charged for bread and butter. It has an interesting menu, lots of vegetarian options, but really needs to stop with the frozen food!
