I’m usually not the one to leave reviews. But, I must make an exception in the case of Toro and tell you why for my money they are not only the best Pizzeria in Durham but around! Last night my mother and I went there for dinner. Because of a scheduling blunder, I ended up arriving way before her. After waiting for some time, it was already around 22:30 and not many people were left in the dining area. The staff would be forgiven for wanting to get all of the patrons out of the door and close up shop. But, not once did my waiter nor anyone else made me feel uncomfortable or unwelcomed. Instead of trying to usher me out of the place, the waiter suggested that I could wait as long as I needed for my party to arrive. And if it was after 23:00, no issues, we could sit at the bar until midnight. Fast forward 5 minutes before closing when we were finally all together. You’d think the staff would inform me that it was too late and that the kitchen was closed. Instead, they graciously fired up two Margheritas and a Kale salad and let us eat and drink at the bar. The bartender was very hospitable, taking care of all our needs (including being our personal photographer) so late on as if it were nothing. This isn’t a review about their food; which is delicious and a must try! Rather it’s to highlight their impeccable customer service and making a fellow celebrating his birthday feel right at home. Five-star service all around.
