Gross. This fish is not fresh and it is actually a struggle to find real fish in the sushi roll menu. If you like rice with mystery meat or old fish give it a try or if your on a budget as sushi can be pricey. The chicken pho is good.
Worst food & service in durham. Ever since they have renovated this place it has gone to dogs. their only aim is to fleece the customers on the basis of their past reputation i will advise others to avoid this place and save their money and time
Will not return. Tasted 2 appetizers, 2 soups, 4 rolls. Steamed pot sticker very bland. Imitation crab meat overused. All rolls had too much rice, and I couldn’t remove them from my plate with chop sticks. Unable to eat one roll because the fish had a strong odor.
Terrible, terrible service. The sushi is not good enough to continue to return. The bartender was absolutely rude.
Ed GEtka. Shiki has a new chef and an expanded menu. Waitstaff is greatly improved since last fall. I don’t know if they still have the lunch special, bu.t it was one of the best deals ever! 4 all you can eat courses for $10.50!
Quality Has Dropped Dramatically. This used to be my favorite sushi place throughout undergrad. I would eat here nearly every other week, and not only was the fish great, the buy-one-get-one rolls were a chance to try everything on the sushi menu. However, since they moved the quality of the food has dropped to abysmal. The wait staff was great (they have always been nice) but maybe they hired some new sushi chefs who had no idea what they were doing. The last time I ate there, I couldn’t even finish my sashimi bowl because the fish stunk so badly and tasted like low tide. The fish was not only rancid and dried out, it had that mushy texture that comes from being refrozen or frozen for too long.Needless to say, I can’t stomach eating here again – even though I have fond memories of the place. I would also recommend to anyone in the future that they choose somewhere better, like Momoyama or Sansui.
Five stars in my book. His was my first real sushi experience and I was extremely impressed. The sushi is fresh and they have a huge menu to choose from.
