Hours of Operation. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Foods is great and service is too.I can’t remember what time they open for dinner, so I went to the website.Why are the hours of operation not listed on the website?! That’s all I wanted to know, what time can I go get dinner tonight.
My rule of thumb is to avoid places with unoriginal names such as, china wok, Japan xpress or Thai caf. But this time I was wrong. Thai cafe has become one of my go-to food eateries in Durham. But i will warn you, if you eat the chicken massaman curry, no other curry will ever be as good as it.
Wonderful Noodles and Cocktails!. Went to Thai Cafe for the first time recently. I loved their cocktail menu and their vegan options. It was very easy to order and customize traditional Thai dishes (Pad See Ew and Pad Thai) as they use no fish sauce in their preparation. Also got the fried tofu appetizer and it was delightful to eat, even as we took our food to go! My partner and I each had a cocktail while we waited–the bar tender was friendly and made our cocktails perfectly and quickly before our very eyes. Definitely the best Thai food I’ve had in the area so far, looking forward to trying more of their menu!

The place has a lot of seating but it was very hot in some places. The waitstaff seemed a little perturbed when we wanted a special table that was vacant for a party of 6. We wanted to have a nice cool breeze to flow over us while we ate. The waiter was a little surly so I slipped him some bills and after that he was nicer to us. The Thai food was so-so. Not very imaginative though I’ll give them credit the portions were plentiful. I doubt I’d go back to this place. The room was hot- the food, the service, NOT.
Good food. Their consistency has dropped in the recent year, but it’s still a great option. I love getting takeout – but beware! Sometimes they are SUPER busy. Great coconut cake, crab angels, massaman, and curry.
