Went here on a weekday for lunch. The place is packed, and the service is very fast. We tried the Crab Roll Hoy Jaw to start, which smelt a bit odd, and came with an unpleasantly sweet sauce on the side. The peanuts were floating on the sauce so there was no way to rescue and eat them alone. I had the Pad Prik Khing. The chicken and bean dish was spicy, as I had requested, but this was about the only good thing about it. My husband had a noodle dish, which was much more tasty, but much much more oily. We left a bit sad because it had a lot of potential- and we are still looking for reasonably Thai tasting food int he triangle. This was Thai, but it was like the McDonalds of Thai food, which is not terrible, but rarely desirable.
Not fancy, but tasty. Solid Thai dishes. I had the pad see ew and my husband had the pad Thai. It tasted different from other pad Thais I’ve had (more lemon grass? No lime?), but still good. They need to dust the faux tile roof in the main dining room to spruce it up a bit.
Great service. Friendly waiter. Mixed review on the food. Would return for select appetizers and to try different entrees. Here’s the breakdown:Appetizer sampler: curry puffs were delicious, chicken sate was mediocre, chicken spring rolls were fair but my husband enjoyed them.Fried tofu: light, crisp, excellent.Peanut sauce: always crucial to have a great one. It is my favorite part of Thai cuisine. Sadly, this one tasted chemical to me. Was disappointed.Red curry veggies & tofu: great curry flavor- sweet on tongue with a kick of spice in my throat. Prefer better veggie selection. Don’t understand green beans in the dish. No baby corn. Included onion, cabbage, carrot, odd mushroom, gb, and would’ve had bell pepper but requested to hold.Khao pad supparot: fried rice with pineapple, raisin, and lots of other ingredients. Good flavor but husband asked for 3/5 hotness and it burned up our mouths pretty badly. chose beef – texture was ok.Pad ma moung him ma pan: cashew and pineapple chicken dish. Great flavor. Too few cashews. Enjoyed the water chestnuts. Also husband asked for 3/5 hotness and for us it was overkill.Tasted some other curry sauces as well. Green curry was a favorite along with Panaeng, which possessed a strong coconut milk flavor. Yellow curry seemed mildest and thinnest.
Best Thai around. I meet my husband for lunch on the average of once a week at this gem of a restaurant. This by far is the best Thai I have had. It is always busy around lunchtime and often I see large take out orders carried out. It’s not fancy, but it pulls in the crowds. The hot ginger tea is usually outstanding, although it isn’t always prepared the same way consistently. The Ginger dressing on the salads is very addictive, so be warned! I wish they would open a sister restaurant in Raleigh so I can get my fix on the weekends.
Love it. Best Thai food in the triangle!
Great salad dressing. The fresh homemade cilantro salad dressing is a favorite!
