Ribeye was nicely prepared. Chili seasoning had the right amount of kick. Asparagus had good snap. Light crowd for a Monday evening. Coconut Carmel dessert was disappointingly salty.
Never seen anything like it. The manager said she not care about my complaints. and told me allison the obese female tall is perfect. and yelled at me. Allison the tall obese young african american female.Would not come to wait on me. I had to get up from my table. And ask somebody who saw at the entrance. To get waited on. She came and tried to start fights with me. She would not come near me. When she took my order. At first she said not want to . And yelled at me. I had to yell at her to come nearer to me. She would not tell me her name tag. She refused to tell me her name. I had to yell at her show it to me. She had it on the upper left hand shoulder. And stood so could not see it. Asked her tell me her name. She said it fast. And asked her to repeat it twice before could understand it. Got angry and yelled at me. Allison not want to write down my order. She yelled at me. It was not a part of her job. I had to yell at her to do it. Told her I am paying for my meal. And she got angry and yelled at me. She said she would do it. When tried to order my sandwich. She kept asking me what I ordered. She would yell and interrupt me. Told her that I told her 3 times and it enough. And she knows what I want. And not have time to play games with her. When told her wanted oranges in my salad. She said do you wanted peeled? Then asked me how to peel an orange. I asked her to get the manager. She refused to do it. Then I yelled at her. And she did it.
Flights: Above and Beyond Raleigh Restaurants. My wife and I ate at Flights for Valentine’s Day last weekend and the menu was to die for. All the dishes at Flights are expertly crafted recipes that feature amazing flavors that are cooked to perfection. The food is not something you see everyday at other upscale restaurants in the Raleigh area. We started with the mushroom tart and veal au vin appetizers. The veal was so tender and flavorful. Like most other red meat that I have eaten at Flights, you could cut through it with a fork, no knife needed! My wife got the mushroom tart, which was also presented very elegantly. Both dishes were very good. For the main course we ordered the lobster n grits and peppercorn tenderloin. The lobster and grits were a refreshing spin on an all to common shrimp n grits you see at most restaurants. The dish was put together very nicely with tremendous attention to detail. Everything was done so nicely, down to the delicious fried grit cake, as opposed to soupy grits you see at a lot of places. The peppercorn rubbed tenderloin was delicious and also cooked perfectly. It was very flavorful. I was a big fan of the fried onions and banana peppers.Dessert, as always, was out of the park. The warm cheesecake is always a hit and the chocolate cherry cake was amazing as well. The service is always great and the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind. The only downfall is that the parking at North Hills is terrible and although deserving of it, there is no valet service. Other than that, I give it a 10!
Fallen down badly. Will not return.. It is with more than a modicum of sadness that I write this review. For years my wife and I have considered Flights to be an undiscovered and unheralded gem on the Raleigh restaurant scene. If one was willing to overlook the institutionalized aura of being in a Marriott hotel then ones palate would be compensated by the culinary genius of their two talented chefs, Dean & Dean.HOWEVER, our last visit shows that changes have been made that will keep us away from ever dining here again. First, the sterile look of the former dining room has been replaced (for the worse) by a more open look that brings the ambiance of staring at a parking lot and the traffic on I40 into the room. Not to your taste? Then you have the alternative of staring at the bar or the door to the kitchen. If this is not enough to jade your appetite then the toned down menu surely will. There was nothing on the menu that I could not get (and prepared much better) at home. (OK. Im spoiled. My wife and I once set out to eat at the top twenty restaurants in the country and we made a good stab at it. Within the last month we have been at Charley Palmers Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg, Ca and had Sunday brunch at the Four Seasons in Santa Barbara, and in April at a private chefs dinner at Le Bernadin in Manhattan. I state that not to brag but to say that we know good food, and sadly that was not what was served to us at Flights). The disastrous experience started with cocktails that were very weak. Then among the eight or so entrees (two of which were steak and spaghetti- come on this is Golden Coral fare!!) I chose the gnocchi appetizer and the chicken and dumplings. The waitress informed me that the dumplings were actually gnocchi and did I want to change my selection? I did and not wanting to peruse the menu again, opted for the Caesar salad. MISTAKE. What came out were two slabs of romaine with presumably Caesar dressing on the side. (Chilis? Applebees?) I was insulted, asked that it be returned and ordered the clams appetizer. That was the highlight of the evening. The clams are prepared in a beer broth that makes you want to drink every last drop. Unfortunately, the toast that accompanied it was burnt, inedible, and consumable only by those with a carbon deficiency. When my entre was served with burnt gnocchi, it got so bad that I asked whether any of the Deans was in the kitchen that night and told that they were not – the food was prepared by the sous chef. Note to management: Hey people why do you have two talented chefs if one of them are not on the premises to supervise??? Disgusted, we asked for our food to be packed and while the waitress complied, she neglected to give it to us. Summation: Bad food. Evening ruined. When we left the restaurant, we had been the only party seated for dinner. Since attendance is so low and has been on the previous occasions we have been there, it is fair to posit whether management has given up on the place. It must remain open because Marriott requires a restaurant in its hotel, but it is so sad to see what it has become. They have lost us as a customer forever.
Excellent restaurant! We were there on 3-8-12 and food was fabulous! We tried just about everything on the menu. The quality, presentation, and service A++++
Intimate, tasty, classy!. I enjoyed my experience at flights. I had the lobster and grits, very good. also had the she crab bisque very tasty. The service was good, free valet. I will be coming back for the breakfast buffet $16 including a drink. This is the best kept secret in Northhills. Wasn’t crowded and loud.
Wonderful experience. After reading the reviews I had to go. On Sept 23, 2011 took my son and his wife. We tried 4 appetizers– crab cake, fried mac & cheese, she crab soup & southwest salmon. The crab cake is the best I have ever tasted. I will probably order that for a meal next visit. My son really enjoyed the southwest salmon. As for entrees, we had diver scallops, NY strip & black angus filet. Everything was delicious! To top off a wonderful meal, you MUST try the hot cheesecake. Ohhhhh, it is amazing. I may stop in there just to order the hot cheesecake. I ordered one to go for my husband who couldn’t make it . Although not as good cold, it was still very, very good the next day. Thanks Flights. I’ll surely be back.
