What a nightmare. Good food..terrible service.. A couple of colleagues and I went to Haru this afternoon for lunch. I had not been to the restaurant since changing names/owners, so this was an opportunity to check it out. We were in the restaurant for well over an hour. 20-25 minutes spent just getting the bill and our server back to the table. In my opinion, a great dining experience includes great service along with a quality meal. In this case, we had great food and poor service. Our server dropped off our food and never returned. I had to go up to the sushi bar to get the extra wasabi I asked for and we had to track down the server to get our bill. We also had a simple request to split the bill and that was a fiasco. There were other customers who also had to track down their servers to get the bill. I couldn’t figure out what the exact problem was, such as too many tables per server, etc. Plenty of servers and moderately busy. The Manager needs to get things under control and train their staff appropriately. I work and live in the area. I will never ever be back as there are too many other good Japanese restaurants in the area.
Excellent. My wife and I shared several menu items including two rolls of sushi and a beef bento box. First, my only complaint is that prices were a bit high. I attribute this to the location in the ritzy section of Glenwood. Nevertheless, the California roll with scallops baked on top was the best we have ever had. The jumping tuna roll was bland in my opinion. The beef bento box was amazing, however, as the ingredients were fresh. The decor of Haru is kind of retro with a nice community atmosphere. It’s not a large place which gets it the feel of exclusivity.
Excellent Sushi. We got takeout sushi from Haru in Glenwood Village Shopping Center tonight and it was excellent. We live nearby and had never been, but that will not be the case in the future. The food was extremely fresh and wonderful. I cannot give it enough praise.
Unforgivably rude service with nice quality product. Skip this place and go to it’s quieter, more serious sister, Sono.
Best sushi / sashimi in Raleigh. Small restaurant friendly staff skilled sushi chef. They also have wonderful clay pots and Hibachi. Try the Crabtree roll for something different.
Amazing sushi. Quality and taste are unparalleled in RTP. They even have the super elite fatty tuna and blue fin tuna sushi. Their unagi is also ridiculous.
The BEST sushi in Raleigh. I really like sushi and i’ve eaten it at literally hundreds of different places. Haru is the best in Raleigh right now. Excellent quality fish and a great selection including some you can’t find anywhere else in the area. Somewhat hesitant to write this as i don’t want to draw too much attention to this little hidden gem, but they deserve to be rewarded. Others have mentioned poor service and there is some truth to that depending on when you go and how many people in your party.
