Real. Good. Food.. La Placita is hands down my favorite restaurant in Rocky Mount and also the best taqueria I’ve been to, and trust me, I’ve been to a lot. The tortilla’s are handmade daily, and the salsa is made in house ( I know because I’ve watched Leticia, the owner, make it). Though they’re simple, the tacos are outstanding. My personal favorite is the adobada with cilantro, onions, salsa roja, and lime. I’m also a huge fan of her chuletas con nopales (porkchops with cactus cooked in salsa ranchera). It’s a little bit on the pricier side for a taqueria but definitely worth it. I also love the chilaquiles (tortillia chips cooked in salsa ranchera). They can be served up with any type of meat, but I prefer them with just the salsa, onions, and crema. I live in Idaho now, but I’ll be visiting in a few days, and you better believe that I’ll be hitting up this place atleast once a day.

Went there today for the first time. An authentic Mexican restaurant, not Tex-Mex. My first time having real Mexican food. It was delicious, had lengua, asada, carnitas, chicharron, and barbacoa tacos. They were all good, especially the carnitas and lenguas. Served on freshly made tortiillas with onion, cilantro and a squeeze of lime. Oh, and salsa roja and verde. Will definately be trying more things on the menu, which is written on a white board. I’ll try to take a picture of the menu next time. If you’re in Rocky Mount and want real authentic Mexican cuisine, go to La Placita, muy rico!
