Going downhill. Used to be amazing thai food but has gotten just way too expensive for what it is. Honestly, go outside of downtown and you find more authentic, more delicious, and cheaper thai dishes elsewhere…
Almost the worse green curry ever. I went to downtown Thai for the first time today. The service was good (I did a take out order) but not so good any how. The menu advertises that the curry has eggplant, bamboo shoots and bell peppers. Guess what there where tons of bamboo shoots in it TWO tiny pieces of eggplant and THREE strips of green bell pepper (which for a weird reason I’m allergic to) not enough veggies for me. They even tried to charge me extra when i asked if could get eggplant replace for the green bell pepper. To this i was disappointed because i was already paying 24 dollars for a dish that cost 13 everywhere else I have eaten in the past. There was so much fat to it that i felt like I was eating lard (I have eaten lard before so I know what it feels like in your mouth), and very little flavor. The tom yum soup was good though. Very large portion for the price, but again all other places in Winston Salem metro area sell the same size for a couple dollars cheaper, and they also have a portion half the size of that one for half that size. I did like the tofu in it, they fried the tofu which in my opinion takes more of the flavorful broth in when fried. Overall not the best place for Thai in Winston or anywhere close to it. WAY to expensive and if I ever go there again someone has to talk me in to trying again so I can say for sure that it either sucks or maybe not.
Overpriced for ok food. I have been going to downtown thai every holiday season when I come back into town. The quality of the food has been declining while there has been an increase in the cost of food. The sushi prices are very expensive ($15 for a shrimp tempura roll which costs 8-12 in most sushi places across the US) and the thai food is on the more expensive side (16 for pad thai – should probably be more around 10-13). The quality of the food isn’t anything to get excited about. I’d skip this place and go to Soups across the street for good Pho at half the bill or less. It’s owned by the same person anyway.
New Location. Is rather superb. Per my dinner service:Ambiance…impeccable really.Service…good.I like the dragon roll with a side of noodles;splurged once to get curried duck….delicious.Though my ordering habits have been nearsighted to a few items, I have found consistency, and desirable experiences.
Fantastic Thai and now Sushi. Limited but excellent sushi menu. Thai food is great. Owners and service people are friendly and efficient. New location is clean and pleasant. #5 from the Sushi menu is my favorite (assortment) and all the Thai food is good. My fav is the curry chicken.
Overpriced food. Bad servers. Took over an hour to bring the appitizers. Got the food wrong. Food was cold. Way overpriced. Do not come here!
Way over priced for lunch. I can go elsewhere and pay half price for superb thai cuisine.
