Top notch ingridients and faithful preparation yield a beef and potato experience that I believe is well worth the premium prices. It simply cannot be compared to a frozen patty, heat lamp, drive thru product. The fries are piled high and tasty. A lot of places could stand to take a page from 5 guys book and take something simple and do it perfect,

I was in town to visit parents and stop here to grab a bite. I have heard of this chain and decided try it based on other comments. I had not eaten all day and stopped in around 3pm and got a cheeseburger and small fry. wow, did not know the regular burgers are a double and the small fry could feed 3 people. Got the burger all the way and it was very good. I am not a small guy and was very hungry and barely finished the burger and 1/3 of the fries (they put the burger in the bottom of the bag, then put in a cup of fries then dump 2 more servings of fries on top!). I think those fresh cut fries cooked in peanut oil might have been my favorite thing. Burger was good too and reminds me of the old fashioned burgers that the really good diners use to cook up. Not cheap, but did not want a $2 thin processed burger. Can get that at Mcwhatever.

Great but pricey burgers (and little else). Five Guys is a good choice to satisfy that burger & fries craving. They offer several toppings for your burger, including peppers, steak sauce, and grilled mushrooms and onions. They also sell hot dogs, but these are average at best.Three complaints:Being a chain not originating in the South, they offer no slaw or chili. I can live without the latter, but I need slaw on my burgers and especially on my hot dogs.If you want variety, you won’t find it at Five Guys. Burgers, fries, hot dogs. That’s it. No chicken, no wraps, no salads, no onion rings. But it’s a formula that has worked to build a substantial following, so I don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Also, Five Guys is too expensive. Don’t get me wrong – the quality of the beef patties is outstanding and their burgers taste fantastic, but it costs at least $7 to get a burger, fries and drink. That’s too much for fast food. One can get comparable quality from Cook Out for much less. The burgers come in two sizes, and I’ve yet to be so hungry that I needed to buy the larger one. The smaller burger is substantial. Two sizes of french fry servings are also available. A single small order of fries is large enough to serve as the side order for 2-4 people. As a bonus, they provide malt vinegar for the fries.Another bonus, an endless supply of roasted peanuts at your disposal, should you have the craving while waiting for your food.Five Guys has two Winston locations – this one off of Hanes Mall Blvd. and another on Robinhood. I believe another has recently opened in Greensboro, in the former Swensen’s location at Friendly Center.Overall, 6/10.

If by greasy, you mean not dry. If by greasy, you guys mean not dry, you’re right. They have the freshest meat and potatoes and make everything to order. Can’t get a better burger anywhere. I’d say hot dog too (they have great ones) but in Winston you’d be shot for saying that!Oh, and if you’re going with a family a 4, just get one regular size fry. They’re crazy big.
