For a Yankee that is limited on good BBQ , I must say I travel enough down south to taste my fair share. Ribs, spicey beans and Mac cheese outstanding! Brisket on the side was very tender and had some nice bark on it that told me these guys know what they are doing. Be prepared to eat in your car as I did…. New seating for sit down is about four weeks out.

AWFUL. I agree with the previous comment- chicken was horrible- it looked like it was hacked into and nothing but skin- 4 small bites of meat is all I got off it…and paid like $9. My friend’s beef brisket was so dry and tough he threw it away…it wasn’t even edible. In addition to the horrible take-out, the female owner and young guys that work there were rude and need to learn what customer service is. Awful food and awful service. Go to Little Richards down the street on Country Club if you want real, good BBQ.
Decent sandwiches. Will probably return.
Yummy!. I moved to NC about 6 months ago and tried several BBQ joints. Honky Tonk is by far the best. I always order the pulled pork and brisket sandwich and am pleased to say it actually has some substance…compared to the typical mush most other BBQ joints present. The sauce has much more flavor and the portion is satisfying. Excellent for a $6 sandwich!
Good Take Out Ribs. This is a good fast-food alternative. The ribs and sides are tasty but you should not expect fine-dining-level service or presentation. The ribs are dry and remind you more of St. Louis style in their flavor than any North Carolina style. However, the ribs are incredibly tender, which is a plus. I may not make a special trip to this restaurant but its location makes it probable that it is on my errand route and thus may pick up some food enroute.
Good People and Good Food. I have always been greeted in a friendly manner. Their brisket is the best in town, pulled pork is typically very good as well. I prefer their spicy sauce but both are solid. The smoked wings are great (not buffalo style). Slaw and the jalapeno beans are both very good sides
