  I would recommend one hot dog all the way and one BBQ with a healthy amount of Big Ed’s Mildly Hot Sauce.Love this place! Mark, Gayla and the crew are great!

  Stick With The Hot Dog. Another one of those places with a rather strong, local following, which speaks again to the complexity and mystery of individual taste, and the power of nostalgia to cloud the mind. These seeming anomalies arise more often than not in connection with BBQ and hot dogs joints. And Pulliams is a perfect example of this – you either love or hate their hot dog, and those who love it , have done so for a long time – the sign on the right hand side of the building says that this place has been around since 1910.This quaint, funky little place makes a pretty good Southern chili dog – neon red wiener on a toasted bun, with plenty of onions, but a little thin on the chili – and this is pretty good chili, I just wish there was more of it. I don’t think this is the best HD in the Winston – I feel that PBs is the best – but this one is right up there with Little Richard’s, Hill’s Lexington BBQ, and several others just below PBs, imo.Couple of things about Pulliams – stick to the hot dog, the BBQ is truly awful, minced to the point of mush, too moist, and with a strange taste that one does not associated with good NC BBQ, and be aware that there is no seating inside this little joint. There is a porch like front with some steps, and there is a bench of sorts to the right of the entrance – most come out with their brown bag of dogs and a drink, and head for their vehicles.
