This restaurant is usually wonderful, but in the early morning hours I have noticed no one seats you and I have had to wait nearly 15 minutes to receive service. I even watched a patron wait the same amount of time to check out at register. This should be address and corrected.
I thought the food was really bad. Sides were canned. Sauces were most likely from a (bad) packet mix. Chicken pie had almost no chicken. Other much better quality restaurants in town are rated at 3.6-4.0, yet MZM’s gets a 4.2….? Is there just a campaign of employees family and friends voting it up so people will eat there. It’s hard to believe that many people seriously think it’s that good.
The wait on Sunday afternoon is worth it. I made the mistake of going to Mama Zo Michael’s right as all of the area churches let out. So it was about 15 minutes to even get seated, but once we did the service was prompt.I would avoid the french toast, because for $5.50, you only only get four half-slices of the bread. My fiancee wasn’t exactly pleased about that, but other than that one problem, which is now a lesson learned, there were no complains.I went with the chicken and waffles, because originally being from Georgia, it’s a rarity to get true soul and comfort food anywhere in this region. I wasn’t expecting much but was quickly surprised once it came out. There was one gigantic waffle, with three pieces of fried chicken that was not only cooked, but also seasoned to perfection. Weird thing was, my meal was not much more than my fiancee’s. So for me, honestly, it’s getting a favorite review because I had no qualms about my meal, or the service. On the other hand, I think my fiancee learned that the French Toast was not worth the price.Looking around the venue and seeing what the other patrons were dining on, it became clear that there are a multitude of other options that will solidly fill one’s appetite. When I come back, I already know I’m trying the gyro omelet, and I suspect there will be no disappointment.
Great All Around Diner. This is a great locally owned, family diner in the style of Cagney’s – breakfast all day, great lunch and dinner comfort food choices, fast service at reasonable prices, especially considering the portion sizes. This is NOT Zoe’s Kitchen (the chain), this is MAMA ZOE MICHAEL’S.It is located in an older strip center that is well off the road, and the center is undergoing extensive and much needed renovations – so extenseive that most of the face of the buildings are obscured, and you have to look carefully to find it. But plenty of folks do find it, it can get pretty busy at peak times. We tried the Chicken & Waffle (about $9 with a side), and the Country Fried Steak (about $8) which comes with Mashed Potatoes and 2 additional sides, roll or corn muffin. The waffle is huge, perfectly cooked – nice crust on the outside, tender inside, loaded with flavor. The chicken part of this dish consists of 3 huge fried chicken tenders, which are also cooked perfectly, are tender & moist, and are very tasty. This rivals any chicken and waffle dish we’ve tried. The Country Fried Steak, which most call Chicken Fried Steak, was also excellent. The taste was very nice, and the gravy was well done as well. The mashed potatoes were freshly made & smothered in that great gravy. The Fried Okra was equally as good, and the Corn Muffin was as good as any – soft & moist, with just the right amount of sweetness. The Onion Rings were not particularly good, had an after taste I don’t care for.Service was very good, time out of the kitchen was quick. The menu is very broad, with salads, sandwiches, fried seafood, spaghetti and other pasta dishes, and a number of dinner plates with chicken, beef, and pork. There are a number of Greek dishes available as well. The desserts here are very, very nice.
Favorite foods plus variety. Mama Zoe’s serves all those comfort foods – the ones the pricey restaurants don’t. The portions are generous and the variety offers something for everyone. The staff always makes me feel welcome and the prices are quite reasonable. Yes, the decor is outdated, but I don’t go there for the scenery! I go there (three or four times a week) for the food. One time (out of over a hundred) my meal was overcooked. I told the waitress, and she immediately made arrangements for my dinner to be redone, with apologies. I have never had a problem with how this restaurant is managed.
Love this place!. We live very close to this restaurant and we go there quite often. I absolutely love their food., I can’t imagine anybody not liking it. We eat there all the time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner..my father owned restaurants for 22 years and I find nothing wrong with their food. I love their pancakes,,they use fresh fruit and not the syrup pie filling stuff, they have a huge menu and nice portions,,I have never had anything I didn’t like,,Their chicken pot pie is awesome and as big as it is still comes with two sides, They have great french fries and tons of veggies, I still can’t imagine what the people that did not like this place are complaining about.
I genuinely enjoyed my experience eating at this restaurant. I went on my birthday which is Halloween & the staff was dressed up & cheerful. The food was unique yet comforting. I underestimated the place but they definitely impressed me, from the decor to the food everything was worth it.
