Upon passing through Winston-Salem we chose Mr Barbecue due to ratings. It is a little intimidating walking in. You open the door and there is the counter to order. The chopped pork was a little tougher than some and the sauce sweeter than the east Carolina BBQ I have been having,I don’t like cole slaw but my friends enjoyed their version on BBQ slaw.
Chopped BBQ. How many calories are in a chopped barbecue tray with barbecue slaw
Nick Carros has passionately arrived at this restaurant before sunrise for 51 years to make sure that the fires were properly stoked and that his Lexington mentor& his own innovations are properly & perfectly implemented ! This location has been complemented in national publications ! My meals & caterings have always been reliably great with the later winning me many points . Highly recommended!
Had the chopped BBQ and ribs. They were terrible. BBQ was drenched in sauce and ribs had been power boiled, not grilled or smoked.
Great pig and yard bird. I have eaten here several times over the years, and it’s always great. Amazing banana pudding too!
Pretty Good Pig Here. This little place serves some pretty good Lexington style BBQ most of the time, at least equal to Little Richard’s (the one on Country Club), and Hill’s Lexington on Patterson, when it is a good day for the ‘cue. There is a consistency problem with the chopped pork bbq here – when it is good, it is very, very good, and when it is not as good, well, it is not as good, but I’ve yet to send anything back. The fried chicken is excellent, and the hot dogs are among the best served in the city that Wachovia abandoned. The BBQ Chicken, on the other hand, is simply fowl, messed about – bird should have stayed an egg. The fries and the slaw are nice, and adequately fill their roles. The deserts seem popular, but my experience is you are better served with a Snickers. The ordering systems is chaotic at peak times, and is not dissimilar to the scrums that can develop at NYC deli’s likes Katz, but endeavour to pesevere, or come early – both work.
Good Barbecue at a Good Price. This is one of the better values around for a barbecue dinner. The taste isn’t bad, though not the best barbecue I have ever eaten. Good southern home-style menu including fried chicken, popcorn shrimp, and flounder, in addition to the barbecue offerings. Barbecue ribs cost a bit more. Cakes, pies, cobblers and banana pudding for dessert. Friendly service. They even cater.
